Our posters make me laugh, they beg and plead for AN to give the kids a chance then comp;ain that olsson Might leave us with nobody at left back. I don't think Toffolo is far behind Olsson anyway!
So how many times exactly have you seen Toffolo play to come to that conclusion Dave? Ollsson is one of our better players and the fact that the rumoured fee is £3.4M beggars belief !

Yep. Perfectly happy with Toffolo as back up to Olsson, but for him to be forced into first choice LB role with only Whittaker as cover <yikes> for a paltry £3.5m is obscene.
By all means give him game time in cup games, game time when we're cruising, etc but don't hurl the poor sod in head first before the season has even started!

Harry Toffolo is 20, Darren Huckerby was playing first team professional football aged 17, Kevin Keegan bought him for NUFC aged 19, Owen and Rooney were both first team players age 17 and 16 respectively, if Harry has to wait much longer he'll be a ****ing pensioner! <doh>

There's the face palm again.

You're comparing Harry Toffolo to Wayne Rooney and Micheal Owen now? <doh>

"If they're good enough, they're old enough" - Toffolo doesn't appear to fulfil that first criteria yet. Of course he needs game time to improve, but he couldn't hold down a position at Rotherham or Peterborough in the championship last season, so why should we consider him adequate replacement for one of the few Premier League quality players in our squad?

He had a very good season in league 1 with Swindon, but since then hasn't done enough to suggest he should be our first choice LB, particularly if that leaves Whittaker the only backup. A season as understudy, playing cup games, etc, is exactly what Toffolo needs.

But you didn't answer the question, "How many times exactly have you seen Toffolo play to come to that conclusion?"

Yeah like once in the FA Yoof Cup final, I've nothing against Toffolo and I'm sure one day he'll earn a living albeit probably in this division or below, but he's nowhere near the level of Ollsson. Dave it is ok to criticise [HASHTAG]#ncfc[/HASHTAG] once in a while you know, the Met won't come after you for doing so ;)

I stand by my comment, he's not far behind Olsson!

That's as may be and not really in dispute.
The point is, do we want to embark on a crucial season with Toffolo as first choice LB.?
I think most believe he fully deserves the back up role but isn't the finished article yet purely in terms of game time at the level that will be required relentlessly in this hell-hole of a division.
How can you not see that?

I'm just about OK with him being our first choice LB. I'm not good with him being our only recognised LB

So you're not denying that you've hardly ever seen him play just like the rest of us then? Ollsson is a Swedish international and should be one of the first names on the team sheet, to compare Toffolo to him at present is pretty stupid IMO, no disrespect Dave but I think you need to take those yellow and green specs off once in a while.

But there's Whitts <whistle>
No, to me this is all about the derisory figure mentioned today for Olsson.
One of the few PL calibre players on our books - and I know he has his off days, they all do, but £3.4m?
Effin' do one, F C Koln and Wet Sham <grr>

No disrespect to you either Rich, but that's the big difference between us, I will NEVER take my green and yellow specs off! <ok>

It will cost considerably more to replace Ollsson than £3.5m and with a week until the season starts not a good idea to start scouring Europe for a replacement.

You lot should be more positive I'm sure our manager will secure his top targets this week with the full backing of Delia and the board, who will undoubtedly pay a little over the odds if necessary. We have no reason to be worried, promotion this season is a given.
