The Hoops will play their first match at Loftus Road ahead of the 2016/17 season as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side look to end pre-season on a high.
Our visitors Watford enjoyed a fine campaign in the top league last year finishing in 13th place and reaching the semi-final of the FA Cup.
They’ve endured a busy summer with Walter Mazzarri taking over the managerial position from Quique Sanchez Flores and brining in six new players. Perhaps the biggest signing for the Hornets was captain and influential striker Troy Deeney penning a new long-term deal with the club after much speculation about his future.
They are so far unbeaten in their pre-season defeating Anzhi Makhachkala, Union Berlin, Stevenage and drawing with National League side Woking.
Mazzarri arrives at Vicarage Road with an impressive CV. The Italian twice reached the Coppa Italia final with Sampdoria and Napoli, winning the trophy with the latter as well as guiding them to a second-place Serie A finish in 2012/13.
Of their six summer signings the one that stands out is the record £12 million purchase of Nigerian Isaac Success from La Liga side Grenada. They have also brought in Colombian international Camilo Zúñiga on loan from Napoli and Liverpool winger Jerome Sinclair.
R's gaffer Hasselbaink was disappointed with Rangers last outing at Burton Albion and is hoping his side can put it right tomorrow against Watford.
Speaking to www.qpr.co.uk he said: “The Watford game is our final friendly, so it’s very important for us. We have to think ahead to Leeds the following week, so it won’t really be a game to experiment too much.
“We need to make sure we try and get things right between now and Watford so we are ready for Leeds.”
This suggests that Hasselbaink will have the line-up in mind for the season opener against the Whites next week when picking his team for tomorrow.
At Burton new signings Joel Lynch and Jake Bidwell returned from injury to play 60 minutes whilst Jordan Cousins is back in training and should feature against Watford. Jamie Mackie had an injury setback this week and will be out for a further three months and Ariel Borysiuk remains side-lined with an ankle injury.
Tickets for the game will be available to purchase at Loftus Road priced as follows: £10 Adults, £5 Senior Over 60/Young Adult 18-21/Junior Under 18 and Under-8s free of charge.
Supporters are advised that only South Africa Road, Paddocks and Loft Lower will be open for this fixture.
