That was a nice quote. Has he got the build and strength to play CB in the Championship?

Given his age and experience and his long contract, his value would be somewhere around 3-4 times the Transfermarkt value or £15-20m. His value when we bought him was £2.1m and we paid £7m, which very much follows that logic. I still think its just lazy journalism stirring things up.

To actually play I guess he must. I doubt many Champ sides will be without a first choice keeper who isn't at least on a par with him and as such a loanee like him will likely have to go down to lge1 to definitely get game time. If they both play regulaly then it'll be a good move for both.

    Bah!

If that occurs then essentially it's only because we can't sell them. Thompson has spent 2 seasons on loan at league 1 Swindon, and Rudd spent a season at league 1 Preston and impressed. They learn little, and the club learns little about them, at that level.

They may not be guaranteed a starting berth at a championship squad, but if they can't force their way into contention at the bottom of the championship then they won't be ready for the first team for at least another 2 seasons. Rudd is already 25.

Fully agree. We are a Championship side with Premiership ambitions so why keep players who are in their 20's and not up to a place in our Championship matchday squad? Rudd is now 3rd choice and needs to be told that he can hang around and fill that gap in our squad or move on. IMO he is not up to it. When he got a chance last year he dithered about on his line not knowing whether to come out or not, flapped if he did come out for a corner or a cross, had no command of his box or defence and seemed more concerned about avoiding pain when he came out to one on one situations. I fear that he will have to lower his sights considerably if he wants to get a regular start.

It's a pity, but that makes a lot of sense. It's strange that the England youth set up coaches singled out Rudd and Steer a few years ago as the 2 best keeper prospects in England.

I suppose that could explain the mess our National set up is though!

I think we may be jumping the gun a bit on the basis of a speculative article by the usually unreliable HITC. It could happen, but I'm not convinced.

The only way we could let Rudd go out on a season loan is if we have a recall clause. Remi Mathews has gone on a season long loan to Hamilton. Rudd going out would leave us with 2 in the squad.

Makes no sense to loan any players to a fellow chumpionship club.
Unless there's a clause where they can't play vs the parent team?
We had some of those shenanigans last year with Vadis loaned to Rotherham, as I recall.
Rudd proved he's not competent enough for even a lower PL side, so it's down a division or fester, I guess.

I doubt many Championship clubs would want him on loan.

Not being able to play your parent club is pretty standard in a loan agreement. Unless it's something like loaning Bassong to Watford, I don't see the issue loaning our players out within the same division. They'll no doubt be going to teams with lower aspirations and can help them take points of our rivals. Rudd having a storming season at the lower end of the championship could take several points off promotion chasing teams, whilst when his team play us they have to play a reserve 'keeper who isn't match fit and built up a rapport with their defence. Not to mention the obvious benefits of having a player playing rather than sat in our reserves.

Unfortunately she's uneligible to play for City (probably too busy to do so anyway). Seriously, Wes is still our number one number 10, though he also has the ability to play WL as well. I'm sure that Maddison is looking forward to a steep learning curve from the best of mentors.

I fail to grasp how some peoples minds work?

If Norwich have put a speculative price of £20m on Brady, why does this article assume Everton can ""swoop"" for circa £6-7M? <doh>
It's like seeing a car on the forecourt priced at £10k, offering £3k and having delusions of being successful.
Roll on the bloody window ""slamming shut"" <grr>

Quite right Cromer. Fulham have said that the price for McCormack is £15m and yet more recently they've said £12m up front. AN has said that either a deal is reached soon or we move on. If Everton feel that we're going to sell Brady for £6-7m then they might as well move on now. We don't need to sell him, so why do they persist?
