You've fueled the main cause of friction there Rick, all by yourself! Some want a consistent team selected while others want tactical changes from match to match dependent on the opposition!

In other words, whatever AN does, he will have his knockers! <ok>

It certainly didn't do Leicester any harm last season, as Ranieri fielded the same starting 11 for either 11 or 12 weeks running. OK, he was maybe lucky with injuries, but if the team's doing well, I certainly don't see the need for 4 or 5 changes just because of whoever we're playing!!!!

Dave - you're getting AN confused with Colin Montgomerie!!! <rofl>

I was just pointing out, it's a funny old game, while you're pleasing some, you're upsetting others and as we know, some of us are not happy unless we have something to moan about! <ok>

That's the problem Cromer, some don't know how to discuss! You have to listen to and understand an opposite point of view, not dismiss it out of hand because it doesn't suit you!

You are getting a bit touchy about this, Dave old friend. I was hoping for discussion rather than moans, as Cromer suggests and I think you probably want that as well. This particular issue doesn't have a right or wrong answer, IMO, and it'd be good to hear what people think in a discussion rather than an argument.

Sorry Braveheart but its slightly different naming an unchanged side over 11 or 12 weeks when that same starting 11 is winning games the majority of those weeks. We weren't winning games so AN felt he needed to change personnel. I don't disagree that we could have had a more settled starting 11, just that I can understand AN's reasoning for making changes in some cases.

I agree. IMO, every player should be competing for a place in the starting line-up at Colney every week. If, as we hope, we win more games this season that will be harder to achieve because of the tendency to 'keep the shirt' after a win so a consistent line-up could well happen. Individual mistakes will also happen though, and that could give another player a chance. AN has to balance the need for consistency with the needs of the whole squad. I don't envy him that ask.

As for the season, i am optomistic to an extent. If we keep Klose and get in a good striker (Both Britt or McCormack would do) Then I think we can defintely challenge top two.
I'd rather Bass was moved on, but Klose, Martin, bennett, Bass and Turner is a good set of CB's.
Olsson and Pinto will be great at this level and in Toffolo, Whittaker and Martin we have some really good backup.
We have 3 keepers, all of whom I think are acceptable for this level, though I hope that McGoven will be an upgrade, I'm not sure he will be, his pedigree beyond an eye catching performance or two at the euros is not stella!
Midfield we are well stocked and they are a very good bunch for the 2nd tier. Canos I think will be a good signing and I think at least one murphy will get a good amount of game time and I'm hopeful will excel.
The second striker/advanced midfielder role we have an embarassment of riches, Naismith, Wes and Maddison are all great options.
Jerome is capable up front in this league but we are obviously trying to reinforce and again at least one more. I think we will and who that is will be key to whether we can stay the course for top 2 or playoffs. Bah!

I pretty much agree with this although I would like to see us keep Howson and Brady, unless of course we get offered silly money.

About the only thing I disagree with is the CB situation, I think along with a quality proven stiker at this level we also need another quality CB as I fear that if Klose gets injured we will struggle.

We also need to grasp the nettle and change the on field captain. Martin should be far from a certainty for a starting 11 place and I would like to see either Klose or Howson captain.

I am broadly confident we have enough quality in our squad to challenge for automatic promotion but we need a bit of luck in terms of injuries and suspensions which we did not have at the tail end of last season.

If we can get in a decent striker then our odds will improve markedly.

My main concern is AN trying to fit round pegs in square holes again and not seeming to know either his best team or preferred formation. It would be nice to see a plan B come into place if things are not going to plan in a game.
