It was tried some years ago, but dropped very quickly when players who had to take a free kick found that once the place for a freekick was moved forward, they were too close to the goal. In theory it should work, but it didn't.

It would work in the rest of the pitch.

Well that is one manager who could full foul of these new regulations out of the Premier league then.

Big Sam will hate the International refs who give decisions for any slightly over physical act!

Maybe but never easy when players do all sorts to cheat a fellow professional and then complain when its on the other foot.

I am sure like in rugby decisions could be debated and discussed in a more civil way - like one or two players at a time involved.

If the likes of Rooney and Hart concentrated on their football rather than rushing around chasing officials we probably wouldn't lose to the likes of Iceland!

In the Euros there did seem to be a lot less debatable decisions and most games were played in a good spirit..maybe the officials from abroad get more respect and stamp their authority on the game more?

Certainly its been very easy for players to get away with all sorts and probably will continue to happy because as Andy says can you see Chelsea/Arsenal coming to the Vic and having 4/5 players booked or even sent off for dissent!

Maybe that is what you meant? Afterall dissent has been a bookable offence for sometime...

I see David Moyes has gone to Sunderland. I don't rate him that highly but Sunderland are probably a good match for him - not dissimilar in size to Everton as a club and he did fine there without ever threatening to over achieve.

Reminds me of Derby when they came up - off field issues causing the manager to leave.

Suffered some key injuries.

Then again we were tipped to go down because we had too many new players...
