Good point!

6 year contract for Klopp - well that is certainly backing the manager I guess.

That's until Liverpool are in their usual mid-table position and unlike last season out of the cups (no Europe to full back on..)

Least he will get a nice pay off if things turn sour!

FULL-TIME
Lincoln Red Imps 1-0 Celtic

That's it. One of the darkest days in Celtic's history as they go down to the part-timers Lincoln Red Imps of Gibraltar.

So much hope and hype surrounded the appointment of Brendan Rodgers, and while it is still far too early to judge the manager, he will have some explaining to do after such a miserable performance and result.

This summer, Northern Ireland were a surprise at the Euros and Celtic have been on the wrong end of one of the biggest shocks in European club football - which job would Rodgers prefer now?

Nightmare start to his management spell.

Already be under pressure as Rodgers is really there to improve Celtic's chances in Europe.

Afterall you and me could win the league I suspect!

He says its "no embarrassment" though!

Quite right, Brendan, I'm sure Celtic were "world class". <doh>

Brenda obviously didn't do his homework - the Lincoln line-up quite clearly shows what he didn't plan for...

- Lincoln's lone striker had bags of speed and their left winger could shoot from anywhere... <laugh>

Sam Allardyce or Steve Bruce for England then?

Does that just show up the lack of top English managers in this country!

Would they even get the respect of the players because their records in terms of winning things isn't great and their style of football deemed as pretty negative?

I actually think Big Sam is a decent club manager for certain situations but as I say we need more than a quick fix of sorting out the defence and having a rant every so often..

And at Newcastle where there were big egos and massive expectations on and off the pitch he had a tough time.

Again Steve Bruce has done ok with various clubs to a point but not really at a top club in high pressured situations.

Agree - both uninspiring. Much as you may quiestion a lot of things about him Harry Redknapp should probably have been appointed last time instead of Roy Hodgson

FA and co going strong on discipline and behaviour towards officials..

Trouble is don't we get this type of warning every Pre-season and actually when it comes to it the officials often bottle booking or even sending anyone off for dissent unless its really clear cut?|

If actually enforced the likes of Rooney would only play about 10 games a season!

Half the Tottenham team would have been red carded including Kane when Ake received an unfortunate red card in our home game against them last season

Why not award a free kick 10 metres up the field for each dissent similar to rugby union. They would soon get the message without losing players which normally makes the game worse to watch.

Agreed. I've always liked that rule.

It was tried some years ago, but dropped very quickly when players who had to take a free kick found that once the place for a freekick was moved forward, they were too close to the goal. In theory it should work, but it didn't.
