My wife is currently pushing me to take on one of the local schools after I applied for a job there three times without any response. It's what we used to call a 'dinner lady' post. 10 hours a week. I'm just looking for something more to occupy myself now retired and would actually do the job as a volunteer without pay if I could. The same post has now been readvertised 3 times without appointing. They obviously consider someone with 30yrs of care/nursing experience unsuitable because I'm an mature male, that only equates to one thing in many people's minds. I was escorted in and out of the school premises by a scowling teacher when I popped by to put my application in, a service not offered to the Hermes courier I noticed. I want schools to be careful but there are real dangers if we are guided by prejudice and a Daily Mail mentality. I'm now volunteering for the home library service in Dorset and will continue helping the local Scouts but feel very upset about the way the school reacted, if you want women only to apply for a role there are legal ways to do that.
Today Mrs Leadsome is visiting my wife's school (where she works Jasper )... they have a late 30;s /early 40's male head and two males teachers. I have asked my wife to get the rather tall and large male teacher in his mid-thirties to ask Mrs Leadsome if she thinks he is a *****phile.... I don't think my wife will mention it, but someone should.
I'll do a letter, but you start to worry if the more attention you invite the more prejudice kicks in. In my last month of NHS service I was 'forced' to attend the anti-terrorism Prevent training. We were told one of the markers for a bomb making madman in our midst was if they had attended anti Iraq war demonstrations. Umm, thats me I said. Cue much frantic scribbling and sharp intakes of breath. I'm on a bloody list somewhere
Might explain why American cops are a bit "jumpy" when arresting black suspects, though? If those stats are correct, and without any knowledge of the individual, a black suspect is statistically 7 times more likely to be violent than a suspect of another ethnicity. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that there shouldn't be an overhaul of police methods during arrests, but I feel it is too easy to lump this situation under the title of racism.
If the following is accurate, surely this is just another reason to stop this abuse of the disabled and accept medical evidence, from medical people, i.e. doctors, as being the best/only way to decide who qualifies for disability benefits. By Ros Wynne-Jones A damning study by the National Audit Office has found the DWP will give £1.6billion to private contractors over the next three years to carry out controversial assessments on disabled people. Yet savings in benefits payments are likely to be less than £1bn by 2020 as a result of the new tests. All that pain, poverty and misery for nothing, then.
It would certainly be a massive oversimplification to say that the problems many US cities have with a trigger happy police force is down to racist cops. The fact is that US cops, many of whom are black or Hispanic themselves, are policing a heavily armed population.

The biggest regret about Corbyn's leadership: not that he is rather inept in the commons, that he is not appealing to moderate voters, but that he is promoting a culture of fear, intimidation and bullying in the Labour Party. It's unacceptable.
Maybe not directly, but responding to "black lives matter" with "all lives matter" comes across as a way of dismissing the statement by suggesting that it means “only black lives matter,” when that is obviously not the case. And so saying “all lives matter” as a direct response to “black lives matter” is essentially ignoring the problem. It's a tone deaf slogan that distracts from the real problems black people in America face.
I was not responding directly to it and certainly not ignoring the problem. You've construed that view yourself. I know all too well the race issues in the US with the majority of my wife's Jamaican family living there now. It was certainly not meant to come across the way you've now portrayed it. Also consider the timing of the post and other events last night. (Although I can understand you couldn't see what was in my mind at that point).
The problem with Corbyn is that he is a hard socialist, that's his failing right there. Luckily, he is useless but his political stance is dangerous.
Tbf FLT, I can see what is winding up the guys and your point as well. Of course all lives should matter equally, but the slogan black lives matter points at the issue that black American lives don't appear to matter. At least nowhere near as much as the majority population of white Americans. It's the focus that is the requirement. In a similar way, if you remember when the journalist Owen Jones walked out of a Sky News programme on the Orlando shootings, and he wanted the presenter and other correspondent to recognise that it was a gay-hatred motivated crime. They were talking about people being killed, and rightly so, but they failed to recognise the importance that it was gay-hatred orientated. It was the focus they lacked. I'm not criticising, just making the observation.
He's not even a rabid nationaliser of industry, except perhaps the railways. Mind you, that's all we've got left. And btw, rumours are just that. Not fact.
