Just settling into my extremely comfy new hi-tec site bed, watching a documentary about the possibility of a multiverse. A few possibilities were put out there:

1. There are as many universes as there are observable universes. We can only see a certain distance into space, due to the amount of time there has been for that light to travel. The chance that there is more existence beyond our visible universe is reasonable and that could form someone else's (visible) universe. I suppose then, we could be part of their's even if they're not part of ours.

2. Every eventuality occurs. Every possible outcome of event in life occurs, meaning there is a constant, multiplying number of universes.

So congratulations to our boys for just winning the premier and champions league for the 2nd year running and to england for winning euro 16 on, with 9 of the squad QPR home grown's. Also, well done to Ivan Lendl for winning Wimbledon aged 137.

I did read the title thinking it was a reference to Ted's poetry.

Sadly the glorious R's occupy a different Universe. Mercifully, so does the alternative reality where we play Vauxhall Motors every single Saturday... :/

There's a universe where you, tEd and Darren Peacock are staggering, pissed along the street, teD reciting poetry to anyone who'll listen, then I steal that money from you and buy a land rover defender.
 
More science fiction than science fact. Ever had quantum physics explained to you? The general idea is absolutely everything is happening all at the same time, how ever impossible or improbable. Rough translation of the explanation was if you had a box and opened it to reveal it was empty it doesn't mean the box is actually empty as when you are not looking inside it the box could be full of stuff, you just haven't seen it and can't prove anything was, or wasn't, in there. This links nicely into worm holes, faster than the speed of light, time travel and E=MC2. Apparently.

What if there are multiverses? If you can't change between them it is a pointless phenomenon. It's Doctor Who territory to think we are going to be able to jump between alternate realities and like it or not the one we are in is what we're stuck with for better or worse.

I have a contrary theory, which is that this is all bollocks.

If the universe is infinite it does not follow that everything is happening all the time. There are no infinite certainties, just infinite possibilities.

Personally, I struggle to explain kites.

Just a thought, but isn't it strange that scientists can utter forth theories and beliefs concerning wormholes in space, multiple dimensions and empty boxes that aren't really empty and we all frown and nod studiously, yet when a man of religion states his own belief in the existence of a God etc. we think he's away with the fairies?

Of course I'm expressing my opinion from a position of absolute doltishness about quantum mechanics and the like, but aren't many of these theories themselves built upon assumptions nigh on impossible to either prove or disprove?

I can handle infinity and the concept of multiverses but fairies?!!

The scientists that spout on about their theories probably have trouble using a toothpick, they don't always appear to live in the same decade as us let alone in the same universe

Scientific theory isn't proof, neither is religious faith. Belief and proof aren't the same.

Indeed...although I'm pretty sure that I've encountered the odd fairy in my time.
