Didn't help that Carroll always dropped deep to help with build up play and then took an age to get in the box. Downing often had to hold the ball up waiting for him

I fully expect Benteke to be sold before the first game roles around mate.

Milner got plenty of assists last year, Klopp could have played him on the right and stick Benteke up top bit he didn't. He opted for a AM up top instead. Says everything about his trust in Benteskey

Wasn't he your second highest scorer in the league last season, despite little playing time and no service?

Milner is not a winger who will get crosses in, he is what I grew up knowing as an inside right. He is most effective between the outside edge and centre of the area playing passes to feet or wide to a winger/wingback going past him.

He was first choice for Brod.

It was also a "eggs in one basket" when he played.

Don't you think Klopp has more game sense than Brod?

Exactly, but he is a very good option.
I would never want United to start with Fellaini but I wouldn't mind him being on the bench. I have seen the difference he can make when a team is sat back with 10/15mins to go, he creates havoc in the opposition defence which often leads to goals for us that we never would have scored. You always need another way.

But Man Utd can afford to pay three players over £800k pw combined too, not to mention how much they cost to buy despite one of them being a freebie. I've not even mention the £300k Rooney is reportedly getting <laugh>

We can't afford to keep £150k per week on the bench, never mind the £30m he's worth!

Having different options is one thing but they can't be too different else they won't fit in with the rest of the players. You only get three subs.

With Studge, Origi and Ings plus Coutinho, Firmino and Mane behind them, we've already got different options.

Thing is, Downing would whip them in and Carroll had no chance of moving quick enough to get into box. Look at the way he scores for West Ham, they chip it up to the penalty spot or back post and let Carroll attack the ball from deep. When he does that, with his height and power no one can defend against him.

Sorry Gruj but they aren't different options, they are just different people doing more or less the same thing (with the possible exception of Mane).
Of course they can be very different, do you not think it possible to coach two different ways so that when a certain player comes on (without the need through injury) the players think "ahh, plan B" ?

Lets be honest, we all sit watching a game and when a certain player comes on we think oh, they are going long or maybe, they're going to sit back and try to hit them on the break if it's a fast or tall player, sometimes an extra midfielder may be brought on because you are getting over run there. The game is not one set plan and we all can see and know that so to say a certain player will not fit in is silly, the others are well used to changing style as required, or should be.

If you're going to go long to a big man, just use a CB (like we used Caulker) ;)

Whilst benteke may be a good option from the bench, I rather sell him for £30m and invest in the plan A.

So, France v Portugal on Sunday. Hopefully be a good game, I think France will do it.

Overall, this tournament has been underwhelming :(.............a lack of great games

I organized the sweepstake for the Rugby World Cup at work. An independent verifier (my mate) did the teams out of the hat, I was first up and legitimately drew New Zealand. My verifier mate went 2nd and legitimately got Australia (both finalists in the end).

Word got about and people didn't want to commit to the £5 joining fee knowing the 2 best teams were taken. So ended up with less prize money. Still won £35, people even expected to get a round in. I told them to **** off. <ok>

The whole scenario made me feel like @InBiscanWeTrust, except I wasn't actually corrupt.
