Yes but he also went on to say 'but everyone has their price' Just to muddy the waters a little more.
I think that he's offering his own opinion, that a high enough bid would secure a transfer for Modric, against the club's official position, that the Croatian's not for sale at any price. I'd suggest that he's right in what he believes, but wrong to publicly declare it. Just like a lot of what Redknapp has had to say, in fact.
I can never work out if Redknapp means what he says, believes what he means, says what he wants others to believe, believes what he thinks he understands, understands what he believes others think, or is just bluffing himself ?
I don't think that you're supposed to, Piskie. He plays the media quite well, though a lot of the time it's in his own interests, rather than those of the club. Levy should rein him in, in my opinion.
I think he's just stating the obvious. In this world, everything has it's price. That doesn't mean that the price in this instance, is one that The Chavs are liable to pay.
Tottenham have said Modric was not for sale "at any price", but assistant manager Kevin Bond told talkSPORT on Monday: "We desperately don't want to lose him, but everyone has a price. That is what I read without seeing the later retraction. What I believe does not come into it but what does come into it is the loose talk from management so as PNP says his first comment is what he thinks and the second is what the club wants him to say. Very poor management but in line with the record of Harry and now his team. A great big hole is being dug and if you dig it deep enough you can't get out. I have seen much better management on Southend Market, much better.
Thinking about it his father John Bond got himself into all kinds of difficulties by opening the mouth before the brain was engaged.
I don't think that he'll be sacked, Ensil. He's Redknapp's buffer and a key part of his team. As you say, I think he's had a verbal slap from Levy, but unless he repeats his mistake, then I can't see him losing his job.
If Redknapp goes then Bond definitely will join him, I don't disagree there, but I'd suggest that it's unlikely to be before that, unless he sticks his foot in it again or we need a scapegoat for poor results.

I agree Bond should guard his tongue more carefully. It is obvious that there is always the offer you can't refuse, but we don't need him giving Abramovich any unecessary encouragement.
Yeah I think Bond will go when 'Arry does, not before or after. Bond is 'Arry's loyal sidekick. Don't worry lads, soon Bond will be England assistant manager.
