In no way meant to be disparaging but a "championship" side punching well above there weight against "premiership" teams with team spirit, commitment & good management. Well done Wales, brilliant! I was punching the air with every goal & ive not got one drop of Welsh in me.
Great display from Wales. My son and his pal have tickets for the semi-final - they`ll be wearing their kilts! Come on you Taffs !
I know. A few minutes later and I was crying for a completely different reason I'm a total bawling idiot tonight!
What a brilliant, brilliant result. The performance of a real team. As someone has already said, they all knew what their individual roles were and played their parts. The second goal was a thing of absolute beauty. The run by Ramsey. The pinpoint 40/50yard pass by Bale. The cushioned control and cross, by Ramsey. The take, turn and goal, by Robson Kanu, that wouldn't have happened, had another Welsh player not pushed up on the left side of the penalty area and distracted the 3 Belgian defenders, who thought the ball was going to be laid back to him. For me, the quality of all the above, plus the importance and timing of the goal, made that my goal, not of the tournament, but of the season. Congratulations Wales and Helen. Enjoy the moment.
Lessons to learn there for England and Saints. Maybe, just maybe, Saints are trying to select managers, assistants and players who fit the profile needed to make our team! People should remember that when they don't like our signings.
Brilliant result from Wales...nice to get some surprises in a tournament, otherwise no point in playing.
Just popped the IPlayer Live back to HT, when the pundits were talking about England's failure and comparing the Wales players origins from very similar academies. And I've just confirmed what I thought I heard Alan Shearer say back then. He said, there's Gareth Bale coming through OUR academy. He said the OUR word, not Saints, meaning he was talking personally. Incidentally, what a job Chris Coleman has done. Fair play to the bloke.
I heard that too but missed the start of the section so wasn't too sure whether he meant Saints academy or an English-based academy. I said it after Wales' first win in the tournament, but it means even more now - Thank you, Gary Speed. I hope you're looking down with a huge grin on your face.
Wales actually look like they enjoy playing football. England look like they're dying a slow death. Big difference in attitude.
Getting through to the semis means that the FAW will get £14.5m in prize-money. Obviously, some of this will pay for hotels, transport, staff costs, bonuses etc but it'll still be a hefty profit. Last year's profit? £20,000...
Noooo! Why would you ask me that?! I think I'd have to say Wales because it's never happened before (and probably won't again)
As an Englishman I've never had a massive connection with the national team. 96 probably the closest I got, but even then I'd choose Saints. But I can see why your bond is a lot stronger. Respect for answering......it was a tough question!
