Clocks because of the Joanna, story was about a bloke hit by a bus on the day he was due to see them. Very severely injured he muttered something about it to his mum, who, knowing nothing about them got a message to the band via the box office, and within 30 minutes she got a call saying they were on the way to the hospital, they spent a long time with him, and recorded the concert, name checking him several times, and sent him the CD. I think this was well before they became global stars. The bloke made a full recovery, but I don't think they are saints.

Ok, but perhaps without the power to heal the sick. Just seen the last bit of their set with the surviving Gibb brother. Not really my thing, but good luck to them.

A bit weird, admittedly - it's hard to see any Bee Gee without visualising Kenny Everett.

The Viola Beach tribute was quite moving I thought.

Catching up with it at the moment (we're still battling through the Friday programs so it will be an ongoing thing).

I've enjoyed what I've seen of Muse and like some Foals stuff (they never play their punky, early stuff like the excellent Cassius though).

I thought New Order were good but then I do think they are the best band ever so am probably not impartial.

I struggle a bit with Muse. They ought to be right down my street, but they just don't quite do it for me. I admire them, but don't really like them.

I do get what you mean I think. I have all their albums and enjoy them but only in short bursts (Absolution is probably their best, most consistent album) and never put them in my top bands bracket. They are exceptional live though and I have seen them a few times.

Quite surprised that I liked some of the Underworld stuff - I cannot stand Born Slippy.

Currently at the start of the Savages highlights (they're quite good and my other half really likes them) but that will have to wait until the next sitting.

I love New Order, and have done since day one, but it's not the same without Hooky.

No, I agree with you mate. The new bloke does seem to sound quite like him but it isn't really New Order.
So what would be you top New Order album if pressed ?

Earlier stuff if pressed, probably Low Life. I'd say Substance, but that's a bit of a cheat.

I was living in Hong Kong 83-86 ( we've had this conversation before Croydon) and they were one of the very few bands that came and played in that era, utterly brilliant. So I'm a bit nostalgic for those songs.

    Yours?

Oh yes I remember now mate. I was there 93-96 where they sadly did not come out :(
I still love Movement as that is the natural link between NO and JD but probably Technique is the best.
As a single Everythings Gone Green and Temptation take some beating.
