Before last Thursday's vote, Farage actually went on record to request another Referendum vote if the result was a close Remain success. So it works both ways. In the event, less than 70% of the population voted. 51.9% voted to leave the EU. That's a straight majority of 3.8%. Considering the tight nature of the result I would consider it invalid. Especially when we are hearing that thousands of voters actually voted to leave merely as a protest against the incumbent government, not thinking that it could actually happen, and not actually wanting to. Then you have the areas that clearly want to stay. London and Scotland have overwhelmingly voted [2/3rds to 1/3rd] to remain in the EU, and NI voted to remain. Oh, and so did Gibraltar. If this wasn't such a leap into the abyss then I'm sure most of the population would shake their heads and make the best of it. But it isn't. And this is why this vote result isn't going to go away. Interestingly, Nicola Sturgeon may exercise powers to veto it. If she does I'll give her a great big kiss and thank goodness for the pragmatism of the Scots.
Potentially, both Eagles, Angela and Maria, could go. No word from Lisa Nandy or Owen Smith yet (probably the other 'high profile' members).

This is a really interesting point in our history and the thing which really upsets me is that the campaign was fought on lies and fear. This was on both sides, but does seem to have caught out the protagonists of the leave campaign. I presume this is because they thought there was no way they would win so they could promise what they wanted to, assuming they could never be held to account. It is really important to now hold these protagonists to account. If I stood for office and promised the earth, was voted in and then did not deliver I would expect to be held to account, by being voted out of office. Unfortunately, in this instance such an opportunity does not exist so the only recourse is to make sure the liars who peddled the total rubbish and withdrew this within 24 hours should have this saddled around their necks and face deselection by their parties. I am more angry that these people have lied, lied and lied again in order to get their own way than with the people were eventually were worn down enough to believe them and vote for them. There surely has to be some recourse to deal with these pariahs of our society.
Unfortunately for you TSS, you don't get to choose what constitutes enough of a majority for it to be considered valid. The key word is majority, and it is not up for negotiation or interpretation. "We" might be hearing that thousands voted a certain way, but didnt really mean it and now regret it...well tough **** to them, time for them to grow a pair, learn to be responsible for their actions, and live with whatever consequences arise from THEIR decision.
I don't know, man. I feel like calling for a redo vote is a bit weak. How many times will you do this? You may not get 75% turnout the next time, either. But OTOH, whichever side loses will probably always find enough backing to call for another vote. I don't want to be like "Haha! Some of you voted the wrong way mistakenly, now deal with it!" on an issue of this much importance but I also feel like it just drags this thing out. No one has invoked Article 50 yet, so it's not like there's anything to actually have to undo/redo. See what happens over the next couple of months, maybe by that point everyone is more on the same page and it never gets exercised. Or maybe the pound stabilizes and people get over their initial buyer's remorse/panic and are fine with it.

Add in the xenophobic majority (such as the people who were out in Barnsley yesterday singing "We're voted out now **** off home" at immigrants) and you can raise a ****storm that has ****ed my future and my business's future and had my wife crying and my children genuinely scared for their future. **** every single **** who voted leave. Especially one in particular on here who before the vote was braggin gthat he'd never voted before and who tossed a coin. Tossed a twatting coin to decide! And who's now on here all politically aware. ****ing Hell, you couldn't make this **** up. **** the lot of them. I sincerely hope the Leave voters are the first ones to lose their jobs in the coming ****storm. I predict a riot.
Please don't close the thread, I find it enjoyable. People are allowed to vent off steam, it's an emotional time. People are losing jobs, no one knows what comes next.
Also, FLT, your posts on this thread have been brilliant and echoed my thoughts exactly. All we have been given in the way of future plans from Leave voters is "we're Britain, we'll be fine, it will all work out". I think this is extremely short-sighted and this attitude could cost us all. What a gamble. What an utter, utter gamble.
Do you guys think that Corbyn has the guts to resign. ( if that is the word) It seems obvious to most that he is not a good leader nor does have the backing of the other MP's or a great many of them?
Beddytare - Trouble is as we just heard on QT from some people we don't want to hear from as well as some that are actually elected to this country's parliament that no matter who Labour put in as leader they will not win an election unless they change their stance and policies. They do not represent the people that they purport to represent and no matter how many times they use words like "disconnect" they still continue on their path oblivious to the fact that they are not representing the views of these people. They cannot continue calling themselves the party of the working class while they are told by people they have lost their jobs to migrants but they turn right back round and deny that they have. The facts are there. The voices are loud yet they still deny it. It is not enough to continually divert the subject to "they are coming here to work, they pay into the system" because that is not answering them. These people know they are coming here to work and they know they pay into the system. They are not questioning that. Where are the answers to the original statement that they were working and through no fault of their own they were replaced. That is where the anger is. Doesn't matter how many times the politicians tell them that "these are decent people only coming here to work and they pay into the system" when for most of them to have the jobs they are doing the British workers were removed. It is a fact and it needs addressing not brushing off and until that happens there is no way for Labour to stop the loss of votes to UKIP and that should worry everyone not just Labour leaning people. And TSS. Farage and his party have no power in this country to promise anything. It doesn't matter how many times he makes statements or promises or anything else. He is not in government and his one MP cannot even sway a vote on anything. It needs to stay that way.

Can we please ask you all to respect alternative views no matter how different they are with out the need for any rhetoric and insults. We are trying to keep this thread open for discussion obviously we are trying to let you air your views but if it does get too out of hand other action will have to be taken. We will have no choice.
