I saw you voted Aussie, which model of co-operation did you vote for: Norway, Swiss, none or a hybrid?
Should the UK still make financial contributions to keep single market access?
Do you think a downgrade of the UK's credit rating will affect you in any way? Or your family?
What level of EU migration do you think is best required going forward? Full free movement? None at all? Points system across the board? Do you agree with Farage that we can now have more nonEU (I.e. Non white, non European, non Christian) immigration?
I'm not having a go at you per se mate, no one who voted leave can say what the final model will look like, it could be any or none of the above. There's a wide difference of opinion on the leave side anyway.
Telling people who didn't vote to leave to "suck it up" when no-one knows exactly what it is that's been voted for is disingenuous at best. ( again that's not directed at anyone on here, but what I see elsewhere)
I can almost gaurantee the model Leave campaigner Daniel Hannon was talking about on news night (free movement of labour, probable continued payments) to keep single market access will appeal to Remain voters much more than it will to Leave voters.
As someone who voted to leave, I think that's a good post mate.
However, I like to think that, over the next few years, we can prosper like Australia, Canada etc etc and be free of the EU.
However, the next couple of years will be turbulent and we all need to buckle in and see what the future brings (no one can see into the future.......especially nearly all economic "experts").
As far as I have even made aware, 75% of all MPs were firmly in the Remain camp. This figure includes Conservative MPs.
So who were the Tory MPs that were lying through their gnashers on the Remain side, or do you mean just those supporting Leave? Are you just prejudiced against those with whom you disagree, or everybody if they're a Tory?
I am in despair at what has happened to our country, Col. Someone posted that they have never been prouder to be British - I have never been less proud. The country is divided from top to bottom and from left to right. We have no government, no opposition, no leadership and no clue as to what happens next, and the standard response from Leave supporters to anybody that voices any criticism of those that put us in this position is to do just what you have done and describe them as spoilt children. What they should be doing is explaining how we move forward.

I must admit, l don't have the knowledge of the inner workings but l respectively acknowledge your points.
My only real thoughts were that England, Britian should look after its own in the first instance and that being in the EU was not in its best interest.
I could be completely wrong.

We're only TWO DAYS in, after the most momentous political event in living memory, Strolls! You have to be a bit patient. The whole thing will shake down satisfactorily, but there will be bumps in the road. The stock market has not gone into free fall, and the pound has rallied.
PS How about Gisela Stuart for new Labour leader. Now, she IS an asset

I used that phrase, Tooting, and it's not aimed at anyone on the board but at certain Remainians for not accepting the referendum vote. The Lammy's of this world who want to act counter to democracy. The deluded who are signing the petition for another referendum - it's not going to happen, and most of those signing probably weren't entitled to vote in the referendum anyway. The Liberals (there are still one or two around) who want to spurn the will of the people in Parliament. The Wolfy Smith's who want to declare independence for London. They just need to accept the democratic decision and move on...
If they want to complain about what happens post Brexit, that of course is their privilege - but as I said to Strolls, two days after the referendum is too early to see how things pan out. We need a strong leader now, and once appointed, they need to sit down with Merkel and hammer out an agreement that everyone can live with

Perhaps slight exaggerations would be a better description? The campaign on both sides was pretty tawdry and demeaning.

Feeling rather depressed today, as well as old and tired. Not sure we can get these particularly malign and vicious genies back in the lamp. The Sunday Times, which came out for Brexit last weekend, is full of opinion pieces warning of the end of the world because of it. I'm forcing myself not to read them, on the basis that the writers are hacks for sale. But Trevor Phillips, who I have a lot of time for, has written a truly terrifying column. News stories, which I know only reflect a miniscule minority of my countrymen, of hideous Jo Cox related graffiti in Durham, people sticking posters (in English and Polish) demanding that Polish vermin leave next to schools in Huntingdon, people on buses in Birmingham being told they have to go home now. This is not about the vast majority who voted Leave, or to say that other western countries don't have similar or worse problems, but I do think a certain portion of the vote was a cry of pain from people against not only the EU but the established order which they feel has abandoned them and they have no voice in. And they are right, politics has failed them. Trouble is, we have nothing to fill the vacuum.
I have to recognise that I live in a very pleasant bubble, where people respect each other, believe that problems can be talked through and resolved, basic motivations are benign, misunderstandings rather than malign intent are the causes of conflict, the common interest is the same as self interest. Easy for me to believe this as I am a relative winner in this system. I've insulated myself against other people's reality. It's very tempting to continue in this mode.

I am apprehensive about the future, especially the next couple of years which I'm sure will be quite turbulent. However, I voted on a principle that I've always believed in, that of self governance (no point re-hashing that argument now) and always stated that money wasn't my first concern when it came to this vote. I believe that sometimes one has to vote for or support a cause out of principle. I also believe that we, as a Country will ultimately be stronger and better off outside the EU.
I respect your views and share some of your worries. I do feel though that we need to let the dust settle before we can expect to see where this leaves us all.

I've just read that the referendum petition has now reached 3m votes. A lot of which are from abroad and some of which are total bollox. Vatican City for example has a population of circa 460, votes cast: 40,112!!! When will people give up and accept that the democratic process has been completed?
Just on the next Prime minister etc.

May was in a similar position to Corbyn imo. Both of them have always been Euro-sceptic, but were torn between this and party commitment.

Correct, but you try explaining that to those in the Remain camp that are deluded enough to believe the figure without researching how it was arrived at.
