£19billion contribution - £6billion rebate = £13billion
£13billion / 52 = £250million

The rebate isn't the only money we get back. The rebate is actually the least important since that money never even leaves the country. So you might as well say we give the EU a trillion pounds a second but get a rebate of a trillion pounds per second (therefore leaving the EU lets us spend a trillion pounds a second more on the NHS according to Leave)

Ok so you're taking away money from the figure which we give to the EU and then it uses on us, so you are making the assumption that we will use some of that £250million to continue all of the EU funding. We could however choose to use it elsewhere.

Further to this, I've looked into it.

It's my bastard generation, the arse end of the Baby Boomers, 45-65, who are to blame. Almost to a man, they're the ****s we're supposed to respect and understand when they come out with dogshit like Barnsley man said yesterday about 'It gets rid of them Muslims, then it's good'. Bleeding heart liberals inn the Indy and Guardian bemoaning how we haven't engaged these communities for years, and their fear of insecure work, zero hours contracts, austerity, etc. Milliband put all of that in the manifesto last year and they couldn't get out of bed. Farright blows a dog-whistle and they're down to the polls in their mobility scooters and poundshop trainers like it was last orders at the social club.

****ing glad they don't get out of their pits to vote in general elections. We'd have had a fascist regime and cheered on death squads that rounded up immigrants, liberals and Mirror readers, with Katie Hopkins reading the 'news' and that ****ing old mare of a partisan queen signing execution warrants. Yes, we could choose to use it elsewhere, and the government probably will use that choice. That's why I voted remain, because I don't trust the government's spending choices and so don't want them to have more power.

I expect they will in fact cut science funding (which they will spin as an increase in funding by the UK directly, ignoring the loss of billions that was coming indirectly via the EU). I expect they will the say that because science and technology is being killed off we need to support the financial industry more, and so choose to use the money saved to offer tax cuts and incentives to bankers.

Similarly I expect them to save the money currently being used by the EU to invest in cities like Liverpool to instead cover the inevitably increased costs of projects like HS2.

Oh for ****'s... even the TELEGRAPH, in a list of myths and nonsense from both sides they printed two weeks before the vote, said it was £158m MAX that we'd ever sent (never mind various rebates), and even that was disputed by many readers' letters to a figures more in line with Astro's. My limit is up for the month on Telegraph articles, but if you really insist I'll post the link when I can.

yes the Greens are the only other party in Scotland who supported Scottish independance, I hadn't realised they'd gained seats in the last election, they've usually only had a couple of seats. However it is their policy to go for a second referendum if it is pushed for by the Scottish people, not pushed for by the SNP:

"The timing of the referendum should be determined by public appetite: Scotland should decide, when Scotland wants to decide." And cited citizen-lead things like public petitions as the way to judge public opinion.

They've also said all options should remain open for Protecting Scotland from the threat leaving the EU causes, but stopped short of calling for a referendum. They think there should be a cross party discussion about protecting the rights of Scottish citizens. If a good enough deal is done between the uk and the EU I can see them not going for a referendum at this time. Though I concede they could back an SNP call for a referendum. Though I can't imagine that will happen unless both the EU agrees to fast track Scotland into the EU and the U.K. looks like it won't do a deal which maintains free access to the common market and guarantees the EU funding in Scotland.

In terms of actually getting a referendum I stand by what I said, unless you can point me to a link that states otherwise there is no clause for calling a second referendum and any referendum attempted to be brought forward by the Scottish Parliament would need to be agreed with the U.K. Government to make it a legal referendum just like last time with the Edinburgh agreement.

There are multiple hurdles to get a referendum and as I've said, even in the unlikely situation they push everything through and achieve a referendum, it won't succeed.

Nope, I'd imagine we will agree to guarantee all the current funding and only re-allocate the difference that is left over. My point was that we have control of that money and could use it for other things.

If the 2 greens and 63 SNP go for it they have numbers

The whole point is the only way to be at the table to stay in is to have a referendum decision fast to say hey we want to stay and hope the negotiation done then encompasses Scotland staying in.

It's a massive reaction that the SNP have not expected so soon but they have to use it.

The thing it's Scotland saying we leave union to stay in eu would be a huge boost to eu at a desperate time so I would say the eu will fall over itself to help out the SNP for that boost. It would also hugely hurt us position at the negotiation table.

So best case nothing changes except we have £80m extra a week, or about £4 billion a year.

For context, that's the same amount we lose each year because the government doesn't bother to go after tax evasion.
