Sky News have a survey asking people their stance on the EU Referendum - and I couldn't help but notice the way one question is framed... please log in to view this image How typical of the Murdoch Empire to dictate that the more left-wing you are the lower your score, while the more right-wing you are the higher it is.
Fair comment, there is often unintended bias in the way questions are phrased. Not sure if this was unintentional though!
To be fair to them (and why on earth am I being to Sky) one of the options would have to be 0 and it is the left hand side as we read left to right. The numerical way of doing it makes analysis easier. Hopefully an average of 1-2 will make him think.
The same question could easily be asked with a simple slider, with left-wing on the left and right-wing on the right, asking surveyees where they see their political stance. Of course, if the majority of responses were slap bang in the middle, that would imply either the survey was too long and people were just clicking to get to the end ASAP - or Sky news viewers have no understanding of what the political spectrum is. Neither would surprise me...
This method of thinking reminds me of the recent furore over the GAP clothing advert, which was withdrawn after complaints were recieved claiming that the fact that one of the white children in the advert was leaning on one of the black children, represented a celebration of racial oppression.

So nothing on the referendum result then? [stands well back]. I've not read any of this thread actually. I do enough arguing about politics in other areas of my life. But the stupidity, naivity and ignorance that has fueled this result is astonishing. I fear there are some seriously dark times ahead for the UK and for Europe. Fascists and far-right nationalists are all cheering this result. And now loads of Brexiters are regretting their decision as they realise that no, there was never going to be another 350m a week for the NHS and no Muslims from Africa will not now find it harder to get to the UK (genuine reason for voting "leave" that I just heard). The UK will split, the UK (hopefully) will have to beg for some sort of deal with Europe (a Europe we will now *actually* have no control over unlike the thousands of times they agreed with us versus the 30 or so times we lost a vote) and TTIP becomes more likely. So that'll be loads of sovereignty lost then. And people think our ancestors who fought WW2 would be proud...to see a peaceful Europe starting to break up as far-right bigots cheer and whoop and talk about freedom. This is possibly the most moronic thing I've ever seen democracy do. And that's saying something.
Chelsea are certainly going to regret their policy of hoovering up youngsters from around Europe, as now they've got z couple of dozen players whose work permits aren't worth the paper they're printed on, not least Zouma, Marin and Ake.
The level of regret coming from leave voters is steadily increasing by the day. A lot of people seem to have suddenly realised that the reasons that they voted are irrelevant. More money for public services? Nope. Limits on immigration or freedom of movement? Nope. The whole thing was a total con and a bunch of city folk made big money on it. Lies, lies and more lies, followed by the rich getting richer and the poor suffering. As I said before, plus ca change.

Unfortunately, no. Especially as Cameron pissed on the idea at the time, calling it 'a referendum not a neverendum'!...
