I am trying to help you out of this Lull... I take it you don't like Carling? Imagine there is only a barrel of New Beer available.... how would you feel. That would make me say, "Oooh I'll try that then please", rather than, "Oh no, you've only got a pint of Harry Redknapp (he is Carling in this little game :) ) - I'll leave it thanks."

You know Carling. You don't know New Beer.

Try it with a smile, it may become your favourite tipple.

Agreed, although there was some sceptism due to his odd failures.

I used to drive passed the Brewery nearly every day when I lived in Christchurch. Lovely pint. I have recently found Alton's Pride which is fff beer, made near my home town of Alton, hence the name. Good out the barrel and good out of the bottle. My local here in Northampton (village near by) is currently serving a beer from Salisbury. Had a couple last night. Called "Hop something" - can't remember.

Ah the good old days of being a Bobby in Alton in mid 60's - three breweries Harp, Courage and Watneys - the aroma was superb.

Can't remember making one arrest! Good law abiding community. Always remember seeing Jimmy Dickinson making his way home after games. No swish cars in those days. Transferred to Isle of Man 1968.

Their Summer Lightning is fabulous. Hop Back was originally brewed at the Wyndham Arms in Salisbury in the 1980's, and only sold in that pub. Eventually more and more demand led to the move to a "proper" brewery at, I think, Downton. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

OGC Nice's statement when Puel left the club this summer:

"We had planned to see each other once the season was completed.

"With a cool head and clear ideas we took stock and discussed the future. At the end of this turn of rich and constructive horizon, we took, by common consent, the decision not to continue working.

"Our common history ends today with deep respect, and with job satisfaction. We lived four seasons of intense emotions, and took considerable pleasure to jointly develop the project at OGC Nice.

"We are so grateful for each other, this great human and sporting adventure that began in 2012.

"While a page is turned, the direction of OGC Nice and Claude Puel, true to their ambitions, wish the best for the future."
