Sorry to hear that VR. I feel for anyone who has a pension linked to the stock market (a lot these days) who was hoping to retire anytime soon. Hope it's not as bad as you fear.
Not new manager stuff but I've just contacted Royal London to see if I get any money when I'm 65. I'll be well f**ked off if I've lost the lot. To answer a previous question I had heard of Claude Puel but only because I knew someone who lived in Nice for a while. I didn't know huge details about him but I had heard of him. Once again my reason for unease has no basis in fact, knowledge or even a personal bias but I just don't feel happiness about this supposed appointment. Mind you this complacency about how the club gets it right and we did it with MP before and so forth.....
OK which one of you lunatics is putting his savings on Giggs? http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/southampton/next-permanent-manager
I have no issue with him as such, sure he's a decent bloke and an ok manager. I just have a very bad feeling he isn't the guy to take us foward.
If Puel is installed, he will get my full backing.....I didn't know anything about Poch when Nigel was sacked and thought the board had lost their minds at the time. The board is more qualified than I will ever be, so I will trust their decision, whoever we employ.
I don't know....I was asking as some seem to know enough to hate him. If he is truly awful, I'm wondering why he's being considered.
Ok. I just find it odd that people say "anyone but *****" based on a bad feeling. Seems a little strange to me. I thought you may have known something bad about him that I hadn't heard. Basically just being glass half empty then. That's ok. I am happy if he is chosen, for no reason other than I am a positive person!
Me and you sat scratching our heads Fran. I just think it is simply that some people have a natural position that thinks negative first. I think it is simply that.
I get the Giggs dislike, He is completely untried and doesn't seem a very sincere person from what I have seen of him. He'd also definitely not have his heart in it. Plus, he'd probably look too good in training
For me it's the expectation that managers should have achieved highly somewhere else before coming here. That's not the right thing to look for. Personal and management qualities and potential are more important than achievements in whatever league. Has to be said that Koeman didn't get this kind of scepticism when he joined because he was a famous player, which is completely meaningless.
I think the only way I can describe my feelings for Puel is you go down the local on a Friday night expecting a pint of your favourite ale , only to get there and the barrels gone so you have to settle for a pint of Carling.
I'm doing that thing where the more people put the boot in on the guy before he's even stepped through the door, the more I like him and the more support he's gonna get out of me. Sorry folks. Let's give him a chance.
