Liverpool will have to pay £12million to prise Andy Robertson away from Hull. That’s the Tigers’ asking price, and boss Steve Bruce wants Robbie Brady back from relegated Norwich before he will consider selling full-back Robertson to the Reds. Liverpool are eyeing up the 22-year-old Scotland international - one of the most-promising left-backs in Britain - after having a £7m bid for Leicester’s teen defender Ben Chilwell rejected.
LFC can no longer sign Johnny Foreigner.... LEts get ourselves some of those lower league players and dig in.
Never got this leaving EU will mean can't sign European players...even if we use a points based system surely footballers earn enough and have defined contracts that they'd pass those tests of entry?
It would mean that UK work permit scheme would be required. There could be an agreement made by FA with UK authorities to allow in X players per club. But it does break bosman rule potentially unless UK puts or keeps it in law. I would PRESUME for chaos not to occur generally some system will come in that anyone in the country 3 years or something gets residency or a work permit at least. I would presume we'd not see the lower leagues jammed full of nobodies and of course we'd not see a kante or mahrez again.. It really depends on the xenophobes and what they do as the english FA could actually decide to have draconian rules... I don't know. It does create an interesting quandary on a european super league and frankly it might suit the rest of europe to just isolate UK in this regard too.
I dunno.... I think longer term it makes sense anyway but i do think it will create interesting situations. Now i could see players come to england or not based purely on moving funds about. IF UK is not attractive for tax I could see players bypassing us totally and like the vast amounts headed to US... well they are bascially going to claim image rights payments in one big lump sum. If the uk is a paragon of virtue we could see it being quite unattractive. I found france very interesting recently... monaco started buying madly then france changed laws and ****ed their little principality up. PSG seem to be able to pay thr 75% tax rates and have lots of players but everyone else is really low. We could see a complete reversal of the tv money and one or two giant clubs eating the rest. I'd be an advocate of VERY careful dealing aorund this tv deal now. Put them money in facilities and don't grossly over pay in wages/ keep the contracts at a length where the current tv deal expiry is at worst a year before the contract ends.
Won't make massive difference. Still get South Americans come over who have played barely any football and get a work permit on appeal etc
They don't just get them. What it will do is kill chelsea deals with eu clubs... well maybe not but.. if you get a Belgian residency does it actually matter to an english club?
Imagine someone from outside the EU competing in European competition. Only thing worse than that would be teams that are literally outside Europe competing
Honestly never heard of this guy before. £12m! **** off. British players and England based players way over priced, I imagine someone like Hector (a full German international) wouldn't cost very much more than that. And the words 'Scotland International' have never meant less since they couldn't even qualify for the easiest Euros ever.
Guessing it would be harder to sign players under 18 to recruit into the academies. For the rest it might mean more paperwork but can't see it making much difference, look at all the South Americans and in recent years African and Asian players in the Prem.
That kid from Brazil we signed is forever on loan until he can get a work permit. Emre Can would fall into the same boat, due to him barely ever playing for Germany.
West Ham made a 35m euro bid for Batshuayi. Unfortunately by time they come to pay it, they could be paying about £90m
we baulked at 10mil for hector. LFC's careful policy of waiting til euros was over just tanked. Our available funds just shrunk. Only hope is euro falls further nice thing is our dollars from FSG are worth more.
many on here are able to remember pre bosman days. we had a 3 foreign player rule for years http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/relief-at-end-of-foreigner-rule-1526032.html when this ended english football took off I remember mr souness selling staunton and playing burrows then giving two players to get julian dicks (fat ****) all to have english players. stauton obviously being irish I know one little englander who will be happy and i quote: "One dissenting voice was Gordon Taylor, chief executive of the Professional Footballers' Association, who fears for England's future. "I think this will lead to a flood of foreign players coming here, which I believe will be to the detriment of our game. The only way to control the number of imports will be to ban non-European footballers from competing here."" Yes the english game suffered terribly since 1994... like the massive wages your members enjoyed etc etc... yeah... lets all go back there. I can see an agreement come in for english clubs to have 2/3 players in a team max coming...
allan is screwed Can will be ok cos he'll have what 3/ years for residency before the exit. can would not have come same as kante, martial, payet, mahrez. We should think back to the start of the prem... when there was a foreign rule there was no bergkamp, zola, juninho etc etc etc... the 1990s took off when we brought in these types of inspirational players
It'll be the 15-21 year old from Europe that clubs wont be able to get hold of. Senior players, well they'll find ways around it. Seriously South American players have been coming into the English game for ages now (zero to do with EU) and aside from the younger ones, there is barely any Work Permit problems. Can't imagine the same wont be done for senior European players.
yes at least that. We can clearly see LFC having one or two examples of kids who we'd sent to europe to get residency. Look at chelsea.. how many are on loan there? most are sent out to belgium to get an eu residency then get sold on as an asset like cattle. their model is potentially blown. There not THAT many south americans that come in. They need to have played at least regularly for an u21 side or so to get a permit on appeal. Once they do they are fine... but... insua. had EU passport due to spanish grandparent... thus needed no permit but now would and would not get one Palletta had italian passport... we didnt get any benefit but he's had a good career in italy. again no chance of getting him on work permit. Leto.. could not get a permit. sent to greece. sold in the end Allan.. two loans now.. played brazil u20 prep tournament. no propsect of permit yet I'm sure we could keep going. Lets look at aguero. rafa wanted him BEFORE atletico got him 2006. he'd barely played u17 for argentina... he'd not get a permit. Even after one year at atletico it was a doubt. the list goes on and on. How about or EU buying. its been poor lets be frank... but... pacheco, suso, nemeth.. teixteria forget it. bad thing? not so sure chrivella, canso.. forget it. Senior side. Can, Grujic, moreno, illori, lucas? origi don't kow if they would get a permit on u21 action. coutinho got work permit... What this might do in a positive way is stop the scattergun approach.
