He'd lose any 'loyalty' bonus if he put in a transfer request.

I'd have more respect for him if he put in a transfer request. The way he's going about it is immature to say the least. It's like a child that goes on and on until he finally gets what he wants.

Trouble with footballers is that their life has always been controlled by someone, first their parents then their club so they've never had to grow up, are dependant on others structuring their life so essentially remain childlike.

That's my lunch-break over so I'll come back later to see what the big news is.

I see Twitter as a way of him engineering a move away since Nolan left, but why he doesn't just hand in a transfer request I honestly don't know.

I would say it's because he doesn't want to lose popularity with the Newcastle fans. He is using Ashley as a tool to squirm his way out of the club with his reputation intact with the fans. If he hands in a transfer request he won't be able to play the "I loved Newcastle but was forced out by Ashley" card. He is, IMO, pushing his luck on twitter seeing if Ashley will sell him on the cheap so he can make an excuse about how he wanted to stay but couldn't because of Ashley.

Honestly some of the bollocks being circulated with regards to Barton is crazy. Lets just be clear, he has been forced out by the club by virtue of them not offering him a contract. Nothing more, nothing less. We know the reasons behind this as he's already told us and the club have made no comment. As for using Twitter to rile us up against the board or to get a new contract on more money. Quite simply people are reading way too much into this! He's joined Twitter for the same reasons as everybody else. Its probably the worst forum going for a man who only knows how to tell it as it is but hey ho.

Joey's replacement - Barnetta surely?

Yes please - he's a class act. Would prefer Barton to stay obviously, but if push comes to shove..

Dunno if the club would spend the cash on him though?

Barton is and and always was a money grabbing leech - (I did think we should offer him a contract as he's a top player) - he has only had 1, yes 1, good season for us, the rest of the time here he has either been injured, suspended or in jail and thats after MA and NUFC paid him his Man City loyalty bonus. Joey is fairly intelligent and using this to his benefit - not the fans, not the boards and not NUFCs. To me this is the last straw and he can go **** himself.

If he's gonna carry on like this he can **** right off. Sure he's stayed with us through relegation but he still needs to remember that the club stuck by him when he was in prison when they could quite easily have sacked him and freed up some wages! No player is bigger than the club. Something that Joey seems to slowly be forgetting unfortunately...bring on Barnetta!

He was already being forced out next July, correct, but to me at least his antics on twitter look like he's trying to get out this summer (or incite a revolution) while not looking like a deserter. I may have believed that he joined twitter for innocent reasons, but he did so within hours of him and his agent putting out statements about the lack of a contract offer, which is very suspicious behaviour, especially given how he's then used twitter to badmouth his bosses multiple times.

I just want 4pm to come and go! I cant concentrate now. Does Joey realise he has just reduced all NUFC fan workers to 50% productivity. Jeez.
