The last thing we need is more instability caused by a general election. The decision has been made and we need to get on with it as soon as possible to stabilise everything.
There needs to be a positive politics party in the aftermath of all this. Personally, I'd rebrand the LDs, ditch the pro-EU stance and focus on being on a party with economic responsibility, while promoting and extending rights, liberties and equality. But then, I'm a frustrated Liberal who just wants to see a Liberal administration. I do seriously think there's a good chance for the Liberals in the years to come... they need to seize that chance.
I honestly think we'll be much better off in the long run out of the EU. The economic issues have been grossly overhyped IMO. Sure, in the short term the pound will take a hit but I think there's a lot of panicking because people don't know what's going to happen next. The EU needed the UK a lot more than the UK needed the EU.
Bound to be traumatic, but I'm confident it will be for the best in the longer term. However, MPs could overturn this....the majority isn't so large that they would not feel able to do this. Cameron resigned because he promised the referendum and also would have a moral duty to carry it through...the next PM wouldn't have that constraint. I'm expecting a lot of people to be running around trying to get out of this and Europe sitting up and taking notice.
I think they would have done for people like me. However (and I apologise if this offends some people, but it is my view) there is a large % of people who do actually believe and swallow all their rhetoric. Boris was voted Mayor of London, so people do believe. I am trying to find a more non-offensive word than 'intelligence' and I can't right now. So for want of a better, less offensive word, there are a lot of people out there have a lack of knowledge or intellect that don't consider or understand all issues, but who just follow the sound bites. They would have followed Boris and Nigel.
I held my own views...certainly wouldn't listen to Farage. As I said before, you sometimes get fellow travellers you don't want....happens in all parties. Farage was a liability not a help. The fact he has any influence at all shows how the British people have being ignored. People are fed up with having real fears and being told that their reasoned views are because they are stupid and/or racist. There are different types of intelligence...common sense is one. I loathe the intelligentsia who live in ivory towers and dare to criticise ordinary people who are face to face with real problems on a daily basis. If people had listened before, we wouldn't be here.

And you think that's a good thing? Spreading disunity during times of crisis is shameful behaviour imo. £120 billion wiped off the value of stocks and shares this morning. Is that what you meant by "grossly overhyped"?
David Cameron was vocally Eurosceptic prior to the last election, quoted as saying Britain could easily stand on its own two feet, and while still a backbencher, invited staunch Eurosceptic John Redwood to speak to the Witney Conservative Association on numerous occasions. Boris Johnson, conversely, voted for staunchly Europhile Ken Clarke in the last Conservative leadership election. They are all liars .
I have just been told that HSBC and Morgan have already told staff that a chunk of their services departments will be moved out of the UK.
