How does whether we're in the EU or not affect if a government has an austere or Keynesian economic policy?

Because Corbyn wouldn't have loads of cuts if he was in charge regardless of EU membership.

Not only that but the country will be divided. The only reason Scotland was saved from such division is because they realised not voting for independence was a mistake and returned 56 out of 59 seats to the SNP. If we stay in the EU and people realise reforms won't happen I can see a surge in Ukip's support.

I absolutely agree... and I think this referendum offer may rear its head again in the future if Remain win over. This cannot be a win though can it. If 35 million vote and circa 49 % lose out 16 million or more are going to be hacked off.

 

It's also why Labour haven't got a sniff at getting into power in 2020. Corbyn's ideals put internationalism above all else. It doesn't matter how many Labour voters worry about immigration levels (two-thirds according to most polls), he'll remain stubborn in his internationalism. He's never been challenged on it either. He's only ever been in the company of Labour members who thinks the sun shines out of his arse and pre-selected audiences at rallies. Even his constituency is a middle-class North London haven. I've said before that the majority of working-class people in this country are patriotic, conservative with a small 'c' and don't particularly like the idea of uncontrolled immigration or multiculturalism for that matter.

What's amusing, is that the politicians have woken up to the fact that they really do need to listen and pay attention to the people they claim to represent, and in doing that, they're going to be working towards getting them back on side.

That means that they're effectively going to have to address the issues that a fair few of the invoters were saying that they didn't like.

Unless it's a landslide to remain, it's win win for brexit.
