Well we won't necessarily know whether we've tried or not. We have these same discussions every year.
This is true. The problem is our whole transfer policy is ****ed. Almost everyone who had watched Benteke and watched Liverpool over the last few years could tell he wouldn't work for us. Its pretty basic that a player with 60%+ of his goals coming from crosses would not fit into a side with the worst, or second worst, crossing success ratio in the PL. The transfer committee needs to go otherwise they will continue to hold us and Jurgen Klopp back.
Poster A: "Why don't we just pay whatever is needed to get Thingimijigi? I watch him all the time in the Syrian Conference, he's exactly what we need" Poster B: "Nah, I watch him all the time too and he's rubbish. We should get Wotsitinho. Poster C: "We tried for him but he didn't want to come" Poster D: "We didn't try hard enough - we should have offered him sunshine and more cake. We could get Fantastico from Real, he can't get game time with them" Poster E: " That's because he's crap" Poster F: "Forget it - they've all gone to City. We've bought Plodderini from Stoke" All: "FFS"
Klopp already said that "he will never buy a player who is anly interested in playing in champion league".Meaning, if a player is going to play because the club is in champion league there is tendecy that if the club fails to qualify for champion league following year he is going to leave,
This is it isn't it. Everyone always want the superstar big money signing, but who? Who do people really want (and don't say Neymar, Suarez etc). Then how much would they cost? Can the club afford to basically put their eggs in one basket? Are they a long term investment, so we spend £40mish on a 28/29 yr old or someone who buggers off after two seasons? And lastly would they move to us and are we likely to be gazumped by another (CL) club?
Obviously he isn't, because a player who wants champions league football isn't going to play for a club without champions league football.
I don't. I continously say I want the next star, not the current or previous one. I wouldn't mind a few players that can have a immediate impact though. IMO consistency is what we should be looking for a payers this summer. Bollox to the flash skilful players.
get gotze, 20mil... pay 180k per week... let him be useless.. it doesn't matter how bad cos him coming brought another 4. Hector for example looks worth every penny cologne wanted so far at euros. thats fine and all but he's not going to tell dahoud (who we do need by the look of him) that we are on the up. Any yes the club and many other clubs can affrod to have one big figurehead star.
Piotr Zielinski will undergo a medical at Liverpool after Euro 2016, according to reports. The Reds are understood to have made a £9.5million bid to sign the Udinese midfielder but are facing competition from Napoli. However, Football Italia claim Jurgen Klopp's side are now the frontrunners to sign him with the the Poland international set to undergo a medical at Anfield once the tournament finishes.
