Another perfect example of horse racing being, shall we say a bit dodgy!

Had the winner too as was Martin Lane's only ride and Cumani had a 9-24 strike rate @ Pontefract and only sent two their today ( both won ), should of done the forecast!
Didn't see the race but Buick just got 30 day ban for his ride in the French Oaks. 15 days for the ride and an extra 15 days for some Anglo Saxon rhetoric in the stewards room apparently. Farage just chalked another voter up for the the leave camp.
Buick has ridden in France on a number of occasions, so he ought to be familiar with their rules by now; and he should be fully aware that those in charge are a bunch of witless peasants. He may find that even if he is successful in appealing his race-riding ban, the dissent ban is likely to stand and he will still miss some big races.
I saw a couple of replays of the race at the track and it was difficult to see what actually happened on the normal TV views but I guess that the stewards have other angles available to them just like here.
I would have posted more often but I was only able to get the Chantilly WiFi to work once. Every other time I tried to use it, I kept getting asked for my name and email address in a continuous loop. I look forward to the France Galop junk mail in my junk mail address account.
The second race was for apprentices and young jockeys; and most of the field were 5, 6, 7 and 8 year olds with little in the way of recent form. Half the jockeys were female and I think the lad that won (Conor McGovern) was Irish. Indeed the eighth race was won by a female jockey, Debora Fioretti. There must be a French equivalent of Hayley Turner.
Other than the big race, the card was thin on quality. I do not know if Impassable usually gets worked up before her races but it put me off backing her (fortunately). In the race, favourite Territories ran abysmally and six year old Pas De Deux held off the filly’s challenge.
Excepting Arc Sunday, the crowd was easily the biggest I have seen for a day at the races in France. It was only €10 to go on the infield area and they had various forms of family entertainment on including a concert by Brigitte, a pair of chanteuse in tight dresses.
