...not forgetting fellow Scots, the Sutherland brothers that wrote the song...

Well done, Sir Rodney Stewart. A deserved honour.

I'm slightly sceptical about the Brexit poll lead. I suspect the truth is, it's neck and neck and voters tend to head towards the status quo closer to the voting day.

Sky news reviewer last night Toby Young (who lives in West London and I've seen often at Loftus Road) is a Brexit supporter and believes the government may be using its influence on pro Remain newspapers to skew polls to give Brexit a lead and encourage Remain's to get out and vote. The Scottish Independence supporters had a 51% poll lead until the day of the vote, which frightened IN voters to go to the polling stations.

Thought you might say that. His point about Sanders pushing Clinton leftwards is interesting. Sanders might have been a better choice for defeating Trump.

Moore has the fundamentals right, and it is important for someone like him to exist, especially in the US. But his cavalier selective use of facts puts him in the same bracket as the people he hates, and I think this detracts from the issues he highlights and makes him easy to criticise. Finally, and to show how shallow I am, he looks disgraceful, really should smarten himself up a bit.

That republican Col. bloke you posted a video of, who I really liked, felt that Sanders would get more done as President than the others too.

I saw a stand-up show by Moore once, at the Roundhouse. He basically just ran down the US, but was entertaining and had everyone on his side as you would expect. However, it was not long after 9/11 and he did a bit about had there more black people on the planes, the terrorists would have been overpowered, which was bizarre and left the audience a bit nonplussed.

I really think Trump could beat Clinton. The popularity of both Trump and Sanders is based on the fact that they are anti-establishment, whilst Clinton represents the establishment. Let's hope that the female vote carries the day.

    News in from Marseille:

England fans chanted “**** off Europe, we’re all voting out” between violent clashes with police as the European Championship got underway.

Chants of “sit down if you hate the French” were also reported, according to the Guardian.

On Thursday, England supporters chanted “Isis, where are you?”

Hundreds of fans were photographed drinking outside pubs in Marseille on Friday before the situation escalated between football supporters and police.
Kevin Miles, the chief executive of the Football Supporters’ Federation, said he England fans were drinking peaceably but a group turned out and tried to provoke them.

He told The Guardian: “It was all fine until, our understanding is, a group of around 30 to 40 locals turned up, I think with the intention of provoking the England fans to see if they could get a rise out of them.

“In those circumstances, it’s the police’s job to prevent a confrontation and they used French methods to do so, which we’re not particularly used to.”

    That's your Brexit demographic then.

Brexit ahead on this forum, just, which I think makes us a pretty interesting group. I would have assumed that given that we have established that the majority of posters here are over thirty (a lot over thirty for quite a few of us), male and (dare I say it) white and that we are also quite serious about football, the Brexit lead would be much bigger. It makes me happy to be part of a liberal, progressive and outward looking football forum, good for us.

Liberal, well yes, and Tim Farron would be proud.

Progressive does not always go with Liberal, it's just that Liberals think it does

Brexit supporters are more outward looking than Remainians - they look to relations with the world, not just a struggling EU

I doubt many of them will even get it together to reach the polling booth. Most Brexiters I know are pro Europe but can't live with the EU. And there are a lot of Continental Europeans with the same view

So what does being 'pro Europe' entail?
