Good luck Stick, tough race with the likes of Jack of Diamonds, Harlequin Striker, Harry Holland, Childesplay etc etc but this is the sort of race Squire will end up popping up in so all the best
Good luck Stick/Don with Squire. Not sure but has the rain stayed away? Just looked at the weather and there is only a 10% chance of rain apparently. Going still Good to Firm.

Not the most important day's racing but a very important day for Ballymacoll as they attempt to get their 2nd winner of the season (a pathetic score when you consider they have 21 horses in training). Abingdon goes in their own race and is 2nd favourite behind Gosden's filly out of Sariska, Snow Moon. Abingdon won her maiden at Ascot back in May and looked pretty resolute in her execution that day. She was rather damned with feint praise as the feeling was that Skiffle (who fell out of the stalls that day and finshed 3rd) was the moral winner. As it was Abingdon beat Skiffle 3&1/2 lengths but got no credit for it. Skiffle went on to win the Lupe but then looked hopelessly outclassed by Minding in the Oaks (I'm sure she was outclassed but Buick rode a stinker). Abingdon is a beautifully bred filly by Street Cry out of a Galilieo half-sister to champion filly Islington. With Arab Spring hors de combat she looks to be Ballymacoll's flag-bearer and boy do they need one. 10f looks the perfect trip and I'm hoping she'll win today and progress to Group races.
The likely favourite in the first at Newbury, Asaas, is very well bred being a son of Distorted Humor out of a Galileo half-sister to Invincible Spirit and Kodiac. Should go a bit with a pedigree like that. As should Charlton's Sfumato who is by Bated Breath out of a daughter of a Cheveley Park Stakes winner . Usually a good horse wins these Newbury maidens. Those looking for a bit of value might look at Ronald R.
With Ronald R running well I'd fancy Bell's next one at Yarmouth to go near. In the 2.40 Preobrajanska, what an awful name for a filly!
I don't think the wide draw suited Squire. He jumped out to the right into fresh air and ended up last from there. To be fair he stayed on nicely towards the finish. If he was prominent he would have had a decent chance. Hope he comes out of it well and maybe the handicapper may give him a chance for next time.
