The above and also, why bother stressing. We finished 6th in the league. We are in Europa. This board has NEVER yet let us down. We are financially stable. The sun is out. Ok the last one has nothing to do with football, but it always cheers me up <cool>

The opposite - we actually remember previous meltdowns and how despite fans and media going crazy, the club itself stayed calm and progressed us each season. I'm more worried about the hints of dissatisfaction in our academy than I am about a head of department being replaced (was it Cortese or Ralph who referred to the manager that way?)

We definitely didn't actively want rid of him. We offered him a two year extension which we thought he was happy with. The fact he was happy with an extension and we wanted him to sign it goes some way to dismissing the idea that Koeman has only gone back on his word because the board didn't want him to just see out his final year. He was prepared to sign on but something (6m quid) turned his head!

It's always interesting and exciting when big changes occur - not least for the fringe players in the squad and the academy prospects. Imagine the boost of having a new boss to impress, without the baggage of preconceptions. We can all agree (probably) that on his day VW is difficult to replace, but how much worst (if at all) is Romeu? Or more importantly will he be any less of a player with experience. Likewise, many of the younger players do not have the same quality of the bought players, but our record last season suggests the 'big' players get up for the big matches (hence winning against all the usual top sides) but do not against the 'lesser' sides. Perhaps the fringe players with something to prove will be more consistent in their approach and whilst we may not get the same success against the real quality players we will compensate against the other teams. It is easy to forget the complaints about the dire performances at stages in the season (Watford away anyone?) because of where we ultimately finished. Can anyone say that the football we played was always attractive and in the true tradition of Saints? Nice to get the points I agree, but even better to get them playing attractive, one touch passing. Where is the new Alan Ball to sit in the middle for us?! Onwards and upwards. COYS

I was. And my initial mistake was using my phone which did not show the pictures. So I didn't see the more sensibly worded quote (from someone else's twitter) and only saw the amusing poem someone wrote

Exactly this - if Koeman was happy, then it's not about the ambition of the board ... he went back on his word because he's a snake and had his head turned by an obscene amount of money.

I honestly don't blame the board in this (unlike most)

I can't believe how many ups and downs there are in football even when a ball is not being kicked.

For stability and a manager who will stay and see the job through his contract I think moyes fits the bill. He is not the worst option out there (how the hell is Paul Lambert in the betting.)

Whilst stability is a good thing when it comes to the players as team work is key, it's not the same when it comes to managers, Ranieri is an example of that winning the pl in his first season.

Whatever happens over the summer we will all still be here come the first game of the season, and we are not even being paid to do so. We will be here as we genuinely love the club. We stand together and whoever is appointed or if koeman stays they we will get behind them.

Whilst very unlikely to happen I would be happy with Howe and Rowett as his number 2.

    Cortese.

Ralph has never used only three words as a description.

Most? Hardly anyone here is blaming the board, if anyone at all.

Not on here, we're a good lot, I'm thinking of the wider circle I've seen (which includes Twitter and regrettably, SaintsWeb)

Nothing to do with the fact that Tadic was used as a sub for 1/3 season and Pelle was out of favour for 1/4 of it?!

Too true, lets string them along for as long as possible.
We would have been trying to sign players before Ron did his u-turn. We need get in a new manager before we can recommence those negotiations.

Everton might think they're a bigger club with this new found wealth, but they're still going to be shopping in the same aisle as us.

There seems to be an assumption by many that if we want Howe, we'll get Howe.

Which is strange becuase it'd mean Howe going against a contract he signed recently at Bournemouth. In that sense, it's not really any different to what we all get annoyed about when the top 4/5 clubs come after our players, and yet we're happy to do it to other 'smaller' teams and not worry too much about it.

In fairness, if history has taught us anything, when the bigger clubs come for our players or managers, they generally get them.

I think it was Beefy who pointed out our owners 'are considerably richer than yew'. What their chaps seem keen to do is splash it in a Man City style way, which if you're not Man City can end in (financial) tears. Reminded me of another team in Blue a few years ago who got a bit carried away . . . . .

We should issue a statement like 'Following the lead of our manager we would like to consider the options put to us and will respond (maybe) on return from our hols'.
Then send a regular series of postcards picturing SFC board members on various exotic beaches around the world.

It also shows that we have benefited more than we have lost, which defies all logic.
