New manager will be in before pre-season we can be sure of that. Wonder who Les has lined up seeing as he's obviously given Ron the go ahead. No way back now even if Ron doesn't agree terms with Everton. Exciting. Wonder if it will be before the Euros so we can all be creating shopping lists through the tournament of any player linked to the new unknown manager.
Poor timing for me, i've got a golf match tomorrow and i know the team we are playing have 2 Everton fans. I might have to print off our winter results and explain that Ron isn't as good as they think.
No spacedsaint, that's just your translation of the events. The only thing the Board have done "yet again" is improve this football club.
By that I meant than rather than having a sole focus of adding to what we have already got, we will instead need to put time, effort and of course money in to replacing those that we can't keep hold of. It is just beginning to get a little tiresome after 3 summers in a row. Although if we continue once again next year then fans can have no complaints.
I'm back and more positive today... Ron has gone, we move on, im putting my faith in Les and the board to get us through this uncertain period and to come out being the ones laughing as usual. Right, who do we want as a replacement?
It would be nice to think it was Saints calling the shots rather than just reacting to events. But maybe we are, who knows?
Saintsweb are assuming that reports of Ron not being very impressed with the contract talks was about the amount of payrise. I still think it is much more likely a case of "Delighted with the league position Ron and we want to extend your contract. We would be offering you a payrise and could we point out section 5.2 which details "THE PATHWAY TO THE FIRST TEAM".
So it seems he's gone. Thanks for your work over the 2 years Ron you did a good job while here putting together the best Saints team of my lifetime. Not sure why there's so much panic though. Has the managers job at Southampton ever been so attractive? I bet there will be plenty of good managers queueing up for a shot. Exciting times for me. At the end of the day players/managers come and go, the club itself is the only constant. I know where my loyalties lie. Rafa anyone? Oh and the amount of people who seem to want us to spend spend spend is concerning... admin was only 7 years ago!
Don't think anyone here is worrying about relegation - just concerned about the effect all the uncertainty may have on our European campaign. How do you see yours going?
Not to sure what a club our size can do to stop this happening every couple of seasons. The main reason it annoys me this time is because the club involved are not alot different to ourselves, we have been challenging for the top 4 the last 2 seasons that is all that Everton can realistically ever hope for. I fully accept Saints being used as a stepping stone for players/staff to use to move onto better things but if we start losing players/staff to teams on our level then it is concerning.
If/when Ron goes, I hope he doesn't try to spin it as being impossible to turn down, owing to the size of the transfer fund, in comparison to what he would get here. I am sure he has said, in an interview, towards the end of last season, that we would only need a couple of players to improve the squad. The next worry, for me, would be if he targets players from our black box. Weren't we tracking Dele Alli, before Pinochio left us?
I've worked out why we have a slump in December and January. We're buying too many players from Scottish and European leagues, and they're presuming we have a winter break too, so stop playing during those months. Cunning eh? #LTLformanager
