****ing Washy man. Comes ****ing begging for people to donate to his sons charity and then doesn't always return the favour.

Barely posts but comes on here and causes chaos, because he likes to feel offended about things and is a miserable bastard who can't take a joke like every other man, on here.

I just think it's a bit childish, starting a thread up after reporting the content to the mods.

Give the mods a chance to deal with it, without whipping up a storm on the board and getting every Tom, Dick and Harry involved.

Washy spoiled it for everybody on the board yesterday. He got what he wanted though, eh <ok>

And @Washysafc, every single time you post on this board now, I will be replying with the usual pics. I am relentless with things like this, but at the end of the day, you only have yourself to blame, for your actions towards me yesterday.

Actions have consequences, you should have thought of things like that before you started this ****ing thread. Prick.

Ok I started this so I think I should bring it to a close here are my thoughts and reasons for being offended, remember we are all allowed our opinion.

There are a number of members of my parents generation who I never got to see as the were killed fighting the Nazis, I have friends who's mother or farther were the only members of their families to survive, when the rest of their families were either shot, gassed or starved to death by the Nazis. During the 1930's there were a lot of people who thought that Hitler was a joke and in some cases agreed with him views. At the time a lot of good people sat back and said or did nothing. this is best expressed in the well known poem:

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

There is no way in which I am suggesting that safc83 is a supporter of the Nazis, indeed I would put him in the ranks of the good who did nothing in the 1930's and I accept that his use of the flag was meant as a joke and his inclusion of the picture of Hitler was as reaction to me asking him to remove the flag in the first place. I thank him for removing the image.

I agree that there is a fine line between free speech and censorship, however the use of such symbols, over time detoxifies them and allows others to reappraise history. It is on that basis that my objection stands. There are times when uncomfortable stands have to be taken, one of which was going to war against Hitler and when necessary bombing factories and civilian targets to end the evil which was taking place in Europe, those acts taken by themselves could be seen to be evil, but they were the lesser evil and a necessary one at the time. I see objecting to the use of the images as a lesser evil to protect free speech, I know a lot of you will not agree with me.

As to me growing a pair I thing that you need a pair to start with if you want to stand up for your principles and I will always do that.

I don't think I have ever been accused of offending people on here in the past and that while not the most prolific poster I have been here since the beginning ans stuck with the site while others have come and gone.

So now that I have made my point can we get back to football?

I really like this post.

I agree not only with what you say but the feeling behind what you are saying and I respect the idea that you started it so want to finish it and are clarifying what you mean. That's good and it is a point worth making which is made well.

The **** storm that came earlier was not handled that well though and whilst i personally wouldn't post nor react in the way '83 has I massively come down on the 'freedom of speech' side over the 'people may be offended by this' side. It's all about context, this is an internet forum and you only need go onto GC or scroll down some of the other topics (would you **** a midget for instance) to see the level of accepted comments - I like it.

The crux: If I had been offended by something '83 did I would talk to him direct (as you did I believe) but ask him if he could alter it giving good reason. He doesn't have to change and to demand it it only going to make people want to react negatively, but he's a decent chap and a softer approach would probably have ended this before it began. Don't escalate things, please god no. Oh and '83 I like you, more importantly if you want to keep posting the pics to prove your point then fair play I do think Walshy slightly brought it on himself (not that you need my permission) but i don't agree with posting PM's on forum. They're meant to be private, you're better than that.

*runs away quickly*

More importantly - no-one has commented on the stunner i have as my avatar! Look at her!

Something controversial went up, someone got offended... No ****.

We're better off dropping this before we lose yet another poster off the back of an utterly pointless argument.

No ones in the right, no one's in the wrong. Just a clash of opinions that isn't going to be patched up.

Opinions are like arseholes..We all have one and they differ enormously... I could certainly understand why many are offended by the images of the NAZI flag, but for me in this case I could also see that the context that it was being portrayed was meant for humour and not offence. It is a fine line at times, and one of the attractions of this board is that we do disagree and express our differing opinions.
