If we didn't think we belonged in the top division we should reject the promotion and give it to someone else. I would bloody hope we think we belong there. This idea that he needs to talk down expectations is rubbish, nobody is saying we are pushing to be champions or for a place in Europe. And I just wonder if we have fully reached our attacking potential with the players we have had anyway. And talking us down is hardly about to help with recruitment either.

We might not get the option of refusing it. All we've won is the right to apply to join the Prem. It's still subject to them accepting us, which means meeting their rules.

Would be great to see them publicly carpet Ehaw and tell him in no uncertain terms to stop being a ****, get the name back on our crest, stop winding people up about the name change and restore concessions for the coffin dodgers and kids.

Good post except for your description of venerable older, wiser citizens.

I do love how people ignore the fact he got teams like Wigan, Sunderland and Birmingham way above the relegation zone and into midtable.

Easy to ignore things that contradict your opinion. Though I expect nothing less from some of the prats on this board.

I've always said I think of Bruce as a decent bloke, but time, results, support and opportunities have defined his managerial ceiling.

He has had ample opportunity to convince me and he hasn't. It's far easier to listen to his desperation, his inability to know why it didn't work, week after week, his admittance that failing to make the play-offs would have been an embarrassment - yes, he considered that a possibility and he isn't (I believe <laugh> ) a NOT606 poster.

His tactics have been beyond dire, his A-game has faded; his squad took him to an inconsistent Play-off Final, they also compensated for his strange, but consistent substitutions.

He is defined, for now . . .

Are you talking about the Steve Bruce who all the expert pundits applaud - one even thinks he should have been Man Utd manager - and who has got us promoted to the top division twice?

That same expert pundit had Elmohamady as the right back in his team of the season. His suggestion was met by laughter from the other pundits, one of them being Sean Dyche.

OK put up or shut up - which expert pundits agree with your opinion of Steve Bruce?

The vast, vast majority of 'expert pundits' are clueless. Having spent a great deal of time with many of them hardly any even watch the game and when the crowd reacts they look up and ask "what happened?"

Who gives a **** what expert pundits think? Most of them are complete wallies who themselves failed in the game either as a player or manager.

Look what happened when the supposed 'best' pundit Gary Neville actually gave management a go, he was ****ing hopeless.

Didn't Dyche say on Sky that Bruce helped him in his career, or maybe that was someone else in the pundit team they weren't on screen at that moment I just heard the voices.

So your answer is NONE then - thought so!

No I just can't be assed because none of their opinions are relevant to this discussion.

It's actually a touch pathetic that you're quoting Holloway to back yourself up when he had ****ing Elmohamady as RB of the year when he wasn't even our best RB.
