There is a lot of talk re signing new players and the like, in my opinion one of the priorities for Sunderland should be increasing the capacity of the Stadium of Light to meet up with demand in the next few years , this seems to have been overlooked

Looks like your stadium is plenty big enough already - though Wiki could be wrong for all i know, I've never actually been to the stadium myself.

As well as changing the colours it's garish. Maybe do away with the ugly name. I mean 5under1land? Sounds dreadful.

These figures are from the past and as I am constantly reminded on this forum the past is irrelevant , to the future , for the next few years supporters are going to have to choose if they want to watch, Chelsea, Arsenal , Liverpool, Spurs etc OR Reading, Huddersfield, Fulham, Rotherham etc, with the price of tickets the way they are my guess is the former

So figures from this season, which ended a week ago, suggesting there are 6000 seats free on average in your stadium are "from the past" and no longer relevant?

However, you think that an expansion of your stadium has been 'overlooked'. Given that you are not using your current stadium capacity or attendances in your decision making process for that comment you may as well have been talking about anything or anyone really.

Personally I think Gateshead need to expand their stadium to around the 100k capacity mark. Just in case.

I do not know if it was deliberate but you are missing my point, people that next season want to watch the top teams will not be able to do so in Newcastle, they will though be able to watch them in the S.O.L , one of the advantages of playing in the Premier league , in a lot of cases it will mean LESS travel

Probably your lamest ever attempt at wummery Fredor, just to remind us yet again we're not in the Prem next season. Sad. So it appears you are suggesting Toon fans stop going to St James' and instead attend SOL, so that they can see 'big clubs'. <laugh>
You really know nowt about being a football fan do you. i am simply going to laugh you out of town.

Never ever thought you needed to be reminded OBI , Some fans that go to St James and SOL are simply football fans and very fickle, come next season all will be revealed

I'd be very interesting to see gate comparisons next season.....

£20 bet on which team get's the highest league gate Fredor?
I'll donate my winnings to McMillan.

Our stadium is a wee bit big for us and will continue to be so, until we break into Europe, or become a consistent top half team. We have potential though, we sold out our last 3 home games so the support is out there for us.

The support you get, much like ourselves, is ridiculous given the standard of football that has been on offer for years and the lack of success for - lets face it - generations.

That we are up there as top supported clubs in our country is crazy (I know attendence is far from the only indicator of support but it's not a bad one), just disagrre with the assertion by Fredor that you may need to expand or the suggestions people attending Newcastle this season will attend Sunderland next - just odd that one.

Next season there'll be little between which team is best supported, i suspect we will have higher attendances but there is unlikely to be much either way and could easily come down to how well each team is doing.

I hope you're wrong about Rafa. I'm optimistic after the flow of comments in the last few days, some from the man himself. I'm also convinced that as he wants to work in England, that there will be few other options open for him. It's a bit desperate I know, and his class should do better than the 2nd tier, but I see Rafa as our only hope of turning things round in a season.

If I am wrong, I will gladly come back on here and admit openly that I was wrong! (provided everyone agrees not to tell Mr M that I can actually, sometimes be wrong :emoticon-0102-bigsm )

I was wrong <party>Can't quite believe I could ever possibly be wrong :emoticon-0105-wink: , but there we go, I was indeed so very wrong :emoticon-0102-bigsm <party>
