Chamberlin moves closer
to ITV Racing switch

BY LEE MOTTERSHEAD 2:30PM 18 MAY 2016
THE final stumbling block to Ed Chamberlin becoming the new face of horseracing on ITV has been removed as it is understood Tuesday evening's match between Manchester United and Bournemouth was his last for Sky.

The Racing Post revealed last month Chamberlin was ITV's number-one target to take on the coveted role anchoring its racing output when Britain's principal commercial network takes over from Channel 4 on January 1.

For that to happen Chamberlin needed to leave Sky, for which he has worked as principal football presenter having first appeared on its programming 16 years ago.

ITV Sport bosses have been seeing a large number of potential recruits in recent weeks with Francesca Cumani, Oli Bell and Matt Chapman among those believed to be high on the wishlist of the sport's next exclusive mainstream broadcaster, which will show nearly 100 days of racing across ITV and ITV4 in 2017.

What? No Claire Balding <laugh>

Looking forward to some fresh faces and a fresh approach, with the right balance between content for the serious racing fan and content for the general public.

Secret sources tell me they are looking for an innovative new slot called "Nass The Stats-man" which will revolve around the draw bias and "the pace angle" <ok>

Didn't Richard Willoughby get the Editor job there, he does a lot for RUK so I'd expect many of them to pop up with him.

Thank **** there's no Clare Balding, leave all that C4 team out on grass if possible.

Sadly, we seem to be in a time where society as a whole is being pushed and coerced into being politically correct about absolute everything. The right to Free Speech is diminishing apparently. Madness if you ask me. We need strong voices, regardless of if we agree or not, it creates conversation and debate. What a dull, dull world it would be if we all agreed on the same things.

Fully agree with Ed, he won't offend and will be as polite as possible, leaving the public with no answers, only when you put someone out of their comfort zone will you get emotion and a proper response from them.

There are too many straight white people being nominated for the liking of TV executives. Clare Balding ticked so many boxes batting for the other team and smoking cigars. If only she were black.

I am sure that it will take little time teaching Ed Chamberlin one end of a horse from the other. They managed it with Rishi Persad. Not sure how “Listen, Ed...” works though.

Without wishing to alarm people, I would just say that Rishi Pashad already works for ITV covering sports of which he has a stupendous knowledge such as green bowls and snooker.
