    There's a big part of me that wishes Crystal Palace cup success. They are the underdog and I always support the underdog when it's all completely neutral. And I really don't want ManU adding to their trophy cabinet. But we're not completely neutral. It affects us directly. And after the disappointment of the last Europa I'd like us to go straight into the competition. So sorry Palace and Jason Puncheon, but I'll have to go with ManU. Mind you, if Palace win it I will be secretly pleased for them. There's a little bitter-sweet in both scenarios.

    I do like FLT's mention of LVG's greater chances of staying too. That swings it. :)

    If Liverpool win tonight, we are demoted to the EL play-offs. And it both Palace and Liverpool win, I think it is nada as only 7 are allowed from one country!!

    I have mixed feelings about who to support. I have some great friends in Liverpool. Whenever I have gone there, I have been warmly welcomed. Whenever I have gone to Anfield the experience has been wonderful. But for some strange reason, I have always had a love for Spanish teams. Who couldn't but admire Real Madrid when they took apart a Manchester United team with David Beckham very much in his prime? Who cannot but admire Barcelona over the past decade paly some of the most sublime football imaginable including last season's dismantling of a very good Bayern side? Who can but admire the resoluteness of both Atletico and Sevilla to get to European finals over several seasons? I am sure we all admire the silky skills provided by the Spanish National side in two Euro tournaments and the 2010 World Cup. Now we see coaches the length and breadth of the UK trying to inculcate into their teams a love for the ball with better possession, more technical ability allied to the traditional strengths of British physicality. That's why I like Spanish teams.

    The clincher has been that everywhere one looks in post-match reports of the Palace game, the sportsmedia have said Saints secure/guarantee European football for next season.
