The Daily Mail on line is reporting that Wilder sought written assurances from Meire about team matters, and that Charlton tore the contract offer up.

But Meire told a Charlton fan @marccroome in London yesterday that Wilder turned us down for Sheff Utd?

We'd only know if Chris Wilder himself said that they tore it up. Also I think that in football "tore it up" is a metaphor, rather than actually.
