Here's Clive's take on things from last Saturday......an antidote to the worst team thread..... http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footba...off-the-mark-but-qpr-held-by-reading-–-report
I agree with his general premise that we need to be patient but an average player rating of 6.5 will resonate as comedy journalism by anyone actually at the game. Matt Phillips should score 6 only if you add up the value his last half dozen performances put together.
I think Clive's analysis is very sound; although Phillips was a 5 at best; Gladwin was up and down; and I enjoyed the first half!
Stroller there were 1600 Reading fans, why boost their pathetic turnout? I was also being cryptic in my post. I don't always agree with Clive's reports (although he does a fantastic job). I have said many times and i believe that players should give 100% no matter how important the game is. We pay good money to watch QPR and it is every players duty to wear the shirt with pride and give his all. As i said i pay good money and expect the people i am paying to play football. If they can't then get rid of them.
From the 1 minute of highlights that they showed on Channel 5 I was able to count 1739 Reading supporters in the school end........ Honestly lads do we really care if it's 2000 or 1600?.....If it was only 1600 why were they given both tiers? the upper holds 1800 so that should have been enough...... Anyway i think his comments about the twitter responses and forum comments are more relevant.......!!!!!!
I agree. I had actually drafted a comprehensive post on Monday night. It was getting a bit late so I had to leave it and finish it the next day. When I eventually came back on here I saw your thread. After reading Clive's report I decided not to post mine as it touched on a lot of what he said. It would've looked like I had done a rehash of what Clive wrote.
Bloody hell i gonna have to stop posting my opinions because every time i say something i am criticised. It was the same when i said about JFH lack of wins i get bombarded because i am not content to sit around and accept what is on offer. My point was valid. why say 2000 when they had 1600? Okay, i will say 'the crowd of 25K on Saturday was very quiet'. It doesn't matter that it was 16K 'as we don't care about if its 25K or 16K' do we? In fact we never had 35K against Leeds in 75/76 it was only 15K because it doesn't matter does it? If someone wants to be a journo they should at least get facts right for future generations, or the true story will not be correct. This week's news should have reminded us of that.
It's not that Ellers......the piece that Clive wrote is what 2 - 3000 words long and decent a fairly decent over view of the game, club in general and fans reactions on t'internet. He comments about different eras and how managers in the past were given time to turn things around without all and sundry calling for them to be sacked or worse are valid. Yet nowadays internet warriors/hacks call for sackings with undue haste, there are times when some on here act just like the Chelsea or Man Utd glory hunting fans who can not cope with their side only winning 1-0 or God forbid actually losing a game........mind I have enjoyed Chelsea's battle against relegation this season, pity Leicester won't be able to finish them off in a couple of weeks, sorry I digress. Now if you don't agree with his views, and God knows we all have a right to have an opinion, then say so and put an alternative view, yet all you picked up on was the fact that he may or may not have overstated the visiting supporter numbers...........whats a few hundred fans amongst friends? Now personally I don't know if JFH is the right person to manage us or not but those in charge of the club believe him to be so and they are the one's paid to make decisions, so they stand or fall on that basis. Who knows next season may be another of consolidation, but as long as we show some signs of improving and don't go back to the Kneecap way of working then that may be as good as it gets.........but then that's why we support the R's because we don't do things the easy way.......
