........according to the Sunday Times Rich List the Mittal family wealth has slipped from £27bn in 2008 to £7bn now, they are only 11th in the UK. They attribute this to the problems with the steel industry, but I like to think QPR have played an important role as well. Pull your socks up Lakshmi!

I'd like to be that poor! It's about cash flow isn't it? I assume that £7b is the figure left if he wound up all his business interests, paid off all his debts, tax etc.
I wonder how much actual cash he has at his disposal?

I'll bet a pound to a penny Mittal hasn't put a penny in other than his initial investment. TF has made a bollox of our club and he and his cohorts will have been the ones writing off debts they were responsible for. I really can't fathom why Mittal is still on board other than he wouldn't get a fraction of what he paid when he bought in...

I think the figures reflect the theoretical value of everyone's assets, not the cash they can actually get their hands on. So, for example, Fernandes wealth would be calculated based on the supposed value of his holdings in Air Asia, Tune Hotels and, err, QPR.

Every other story in the Sunday Times is about the Rich List, assuming we all share the puerile obsession with the wealth of others. It's great, because it will reduce the amount of time I waste reading the paper. I only noticed Mittal because it's the lead story on the front page.

One generally finds that the odd £20bn tends to roll out of ones pocket and down the back of the sofa. It happens to me all the time.

this something to do with the fact that steel has become only a fraction of what it was once worth, cars that would make 150 pounds at the breakers now only make 30 pounds i think its something to do with china have
swamped the economy with cheap iron and steel

I understand that there will be a bucket collection for him at the Bristol City match, please give generously as we'd hate to see him out on the streets

It's obviously not a good thing, but I can't help but wonder...what can you not afford with 7 billion but can with 27?

I'm no fan of money but it's bloody useful.

If I became rich my pleasure from the money would be giving most of it away to causes and people who really need it.

That's easy to answer: Lakshmi Mittal's asset portfolio of eight years ago!
