Perhaps if we repeat it enough times, it will come true. :) Just for a second I'd like to be in AOC's head to see if it is even a possibility (save us all a lot of angst). He is a good player who could do well here, but I would like him back also to prove/disprove our constant mantra that these players are ruined by going elsewhere. Did he not achieve his potential at Arsenal or did we overestimate his potential?

Would anyone take any of these? Personally, I'd welcome Ramsey (a better Steve Davis), Jenkinson (we really need a RB), Chambers (i know i know, but he'd be a good squad member), and Chamberlain (need to replace Mane). Though we won't sign them all !

Ramsey may well just be heading on to better things than Saints. I would take Jenkinson at a low price. I'd take the Ox.

The Ox is still on 22. Is he even old enough to ask the question on reaching potential? What is potential?

But how would AOC view it....a homecoming to a club he loves or admission of failure. Genuine question....that is why I'd like to be in his head for a moment. It will all come down to who we are in competition with.....I'm sure he'd be better to come here than two thirds of the EPL. But he may fancy a trip abroad for experience.

Was talking more about our view of his potential than his. We often talk of players 'failing' when they have had perfectly decent careers, but Saints fans watch a young lad develop and assume his growth will continue at that pace i.e. was one of our best players, so will be the best player at United/Arsenal etc.

If he is liking the London life, then Spammers or Spuds will get him. They'll also pay more than us.... probably.

I agree with you 100%. I keep reading that Arsenal etc are ruining players. It's mostly codswallop.

Similar to Zaha at Palace then Utd then back to Palace. Although I think his head wasn't in the right place at United.

Mind you he left a club which was in the 3rd tier of English football. He'd be coming to a club which perennially challenges for the European places.

I agree....I think there are a few 'big' clubs in this country which will always be attractive to footballers, but we must be up there in the next level....especially if historically bigger clubs keep getting themselves relegated. :)

I wouldn't take Gibbs - unless Ron is planning on 3-5-2 being our no.1 formation next season, in which case Gibbs would be an upgrade on Targett - but any of the others I would be very happy to take.

My personal view is that Theo and Ramsey would be setting the sights above us, but the rest of them I think are realistic.
