The 26 year old Italian on loan from Watford has been a bit hit and miss during his time here. The former international under 21 seems to have something about him that we've yet to see. He holds himself well, looks the part and has the ability to play a pass comfortably out of defence. He was a main contributor to Watford getting promoted last season making 35 appearances.

With another batch of wholesale changes coming our way ( hopefully the last we'll see of this ) in the close season, I think it's important to retain some stability within our playing personnel. Although we haven't seen the best of him for whatever reason I think he will be an in integral part of our defence in the next campaign. He's the right age and has the necessary experience at this level, and after this season's period of settling in I think he will go on to be a true Ranger if we retained him.

He seems to be getting on well with his fellow Rs ...

Hall seems to play much better partnered with Nedum. He's probably too good (by wage or reputation) to keep on the bench but not consistent enough to be first choice.

No from me.

No good enough for who? A mid table championship team? I think he is. He can kick a ball fairly accurately and bring it out from defence under control. He's no Paolo Maldini, but who is?

Ned seems like a genuinely nice bloke, but I'd much rather see him go. He's had years to impress us and failed.

If we were scouting properly we could find better cheaper elsewhere in either the Championship or League One. May be too expensive to sign permanently, if the price and wages were right he'd be worth keeping as a squad player but I doubt we could square that circle...
 
Agree with the OP. We must not make too many changes like Hughes. Angella has done well and we need more CB's. Keep him if we can.

Not good enough for me. The forum is for people to express their own views.
 
I'm afraid we are cutting our cloth according to our means so it's a yes from me unless there really is a cheaper and better diamond in the rough from Swindon again or wherever.
 
There are decent players out there in the lower leagues and at last we are fishing in the right goldfish bowl - Smithies, Luongo, Polter, El Khayati and Hall to name the ones we bagged last year. Ask me the same question when we know what the deal to be offered is and at the end of August when we can begin to judge the success of the next transfer window. The players who have cost us primarily this season are the tried and trusted ones who have lost concentration at vital moments especially, Green, Onouha, and the two full backs although In Perch's case he can probably cite with some justification that he was played on the wrong flank.
 
Keep him on the right wages, the right sort and looks a decent championship player, must have done something right at Watford last season......
 
I like him and think he is only going to get better
Buy him if we can but others will want him
We are miles off getting a team together and this latest transformation of our club is because we failed
We will need players and stability just to stay mid table for years yet

If we can shift Onouha and Caulker in the Summer then it frees up some money to buy 2 new CB's.

I think we need a no nonsense CB in the Clint Hill mould too, he's shown the value of having one in some tough games.

I can see though why they didn't hold on to him. I think he is too lightweight and not aggressive enough. I prefer my central defenders to be more in the Richard Dunne mould.

The recent game against Boro' sums up Angella for me. He looked classy on the ball in the first half and made a couple of stunning long passes out of defence, but in the second half he had a nightmare defensively. I like to see a CB who is comfortable on the ball, but they've got to be able to defend first.
 
I'd be happy to keep him on a fairly low fee and average wages for the first team. He's on a very long contract at Watford, however, probably on decent dough.

I agree, Clint Hill also epitomizes that attitude in a central defender role. Richard Dunne may have the og record, but that was because he was always right there in the goal mouth, in the thick of things, putting his body on the line, not shirking his responsibilities (Rio F style). I loved it when he powered in a few goals too and ditto for Clint. They both also read the game extremely well, rallying their team-mates, unlike a Steven Caulker type, who possessed the physique, but not the mental attitude, with his brain never quite there, at times totally switching off when obvious danger lurked. Certainly in their PL twilight years, playing together, although they won almost everything in the air, they were slow on the ground, which was understandable given their age.
 
He's a defender who doesn't particularly like defending, it's as simple as that. Will never forget him bottling out of a header to gift Bolton their third goal at LR earlier in the season. He's decent with the ball at his feet for a centre half however. No real pace. Would massively depend on wages, but i probably wouldn't sign him permanently. Think there's better out there.

Exactly........Unfortunately against any half decent championship striker our Cbs presently look pretty awful......
 
Finally we have a team with a good spirit, and he gits the bill, I say keep. Angella isn't perfect by any stretch but as has been pointed out we are a mid table championship club with our purse strings cut, in those circumstance he's a decent option.

I'd sign him, Clint will be 38 in October so is not going to able to play all 46 games in a grueling Championship season. I quite like what I've seen so far, although he is prone to the odd cock-up, but who in our squad isn't?
