lonergan says he took so long because of his daughter and that Leeds was his first choice

Ken Bates says it took so long because Lonergan wanted to go to the Prem.
 
I'm sure his heart will be in it. I think Ken was suggesting that he was thinking over a move to the PL, as reports seem to suggest Everton had a bid accepted aswell. Think he went for the first team football.

My point is lonergan isnt claiming that it all, he's claiming we were first choice and that it was done to the situation with his daughter which is completely different to what Uncle Ken saying

Why does it matter if they're saying different things? Last time I checked Bates couldn't read people's minds. Maybe, despite us being his first choice, Lonergan's agent was telling us that he was looking for a PL club to try to get us to buckle to the original demands?
 
Because it causes confusion,

I want players who want to play for us, not because they couldnt get a offer elsewhere.

Whatever the reason, its taken a month for him to decide.

Wouldnt surprise me if he doesnt settle
 
Just cause he took a month to decide, doesn't mean he isn't committed. If he thought a move to play first team in the Prem was on, then you can't really blame him for waiting to see what would happen. He said he had offers that were more local to where he lives and his daughter has some kind of disease that needs to be treated regularly.

Anyway, I'd believe Lonergran more than Ken Bates. He spouts bullshit and exaggerates most situations.

Sometimes I agree with you when nobody else does.
Sometimes I disagree with you when everyone agree's (which seems to be never).
But you cannot assume he was talking about Lonnegran. He said A player. We all assumed it was him.
There could be a signing yet to come, or it could have been previous signings not including Lonegran.
 
Nobody is lying mate. Lonergan said that he had clubs interested closer to home and due to his daughters illness and her regular trips to scumchester hospital he had to weigh it up. Based on football he wanted to join us but he could have joined Everton as a no.2 on similar cash. He wanted to be no.1

No ken bates on the Yorkshire radio was talking about lonergan taking a month to decide to come because he wanted to play in the prem. IT WAS CLEAR AS DAY.
 
Ken was probably waiting for someone half decent to become available <laugh> <ok>
 
Prestons chairman put it about that prem. clubs were after him, hoping some mug would come sign him up <ok>
 
Whats Lonergans wifes christian name? If it begins with M then I think I saw her at the Bradford Park Avenue friendly the other night. He defo would not have got her if he wasn`t a loaded footballer, well tidy.
 
no i believe ken, he wa probably looking at somewhere else but decided leeds is the best bet though. Lonergan always has to say that it is his NO. 1 choice for football if he signs for somehwere, but ken tells it how it is when it comes to things like this. It doesnt matter though, i like the idea of someone thinking about where they want to play rather than just taking the first offer, means he does want to play for leeds and not some one else
