He can be a very useful player, when he's fully fit and motivated.
That doesn't happen very often, though.

One wasn't enough, so the officials give another one to Arsenal. My announcer has it right: he doesn't blow his whistle until the ball is in the back of the net. And now it should be 5-2. Tbf, Carroll deserved the foul on the other goal ruled off--but it's frequently not given, and looked like it wouldn't have been given till it gave Arsenal a goal.

 

Arsenal can't deal with Carroll's aerial presence at all.
