I don't have any expectations of "winning" when it comes to England and major tournaments.
Because we usually under-achieve. Sick of listening to so-called expert pundits telling us how good our team is, and then the tournament starts.
Then reality hits, and there is no spirit, no energy, just hanging on for grim death against supposed weaker teams.
Yes, we have very exciting young players, that for times play Germany off the park.
And that result fills you with hope, but we have been there before ????

There's only no energy if we play those with no energy. I don't expect we'd win it even with perfect team selection and tactics but I think the semis are achievable. However, with the same old fuds cluttering up the team we'll go out in the second round.

All gone a bit crap again v Holland. Sturridge diving at every opportunity. Milner pedestrian. Barkley and Vardy uninvolved. Holland sitting back in numbers and breaking fast. All rather slow. Making it easy for Roy to pick his first eleven.

Formation described as a '4-4-2 diamond' . Whatever.

As I said in the game thread, it looks very much an England B team.
The Dutch are swamping the midfield against our 4-4-2.
Milner and walker aren't up to it and sturridge is far too pedestrian.

Only just noticed that thread....totally agree.
