The is no evidence in the messages that have been published of intense, repeated pressure from him. That doesn't mean no offence has been committed, it just means there's a lack of an aggravating factor.

The only part of your earlier statement I can agree with is that it is worse on a 10 year old than a 15 year old, however (and this is the key part for me) it doesn't make it any less wrong because she was 15 and not 10. Wrong is wrong and if we want to trivialise it, she was only 4 weeks passed being 14. Does that make it any more or less wrong?

So you believe he was actively looking for an underage girl? I've not seen any evidence of that at all.

I'm not trivialising his offence, I'm saying that for any offender to get the highest sentence possible there have to be aggravating factors present and a number of possible aggravating factors aren't present in this case.
 
a 15 year old girl is as mature physically and emotionally as an 18 year old male, who are considered men. As to my 'life' experience, I worked in an inner city secondary school where my job was circumventing those 'little children' from continually attempting to DL porn through the london learning net. Before that I worked across 3 continents in 'fashionable' resorts, 10 of them in Ibiza. Believe me when I tell you 15yr old girls from British cities aren't girls from Enid Blytonland, they know what they have and they try and use it.
And, in all honesty, your wives and girlfiends aren't much better, you wouldn't believe what they would do for VIP entry into Manumission.

Agreed that may be the case...physically and emotionally yes but you forgot the most important bit and that is their vulnerability. Yes they will experiment with kids their own age and quite frankly we know this happens. That still cannot justify a mature adult taking advantage of the situation.
 
She was betrayed and I have always found betrayal the hardest thing to live with. The difference is that as an adult you have experience of how life sucks and you know how to handle it....the younger you are, the harder that is. I hope someone tells her not to let the bastards get you down....some times you can do too much navel gazing and think of yourself as a victim. Dust yourself off, tell yourself that you are better than the other person, and move on.

Yes, she made a mistake by bragging about what happened instead of going home and complaining to her parents. Who wouldn't have done much the same at that age?
He was her hero, her icon her mentor, he was adored by a lot of the other girls too. She was naive to not realise the back lash she would get for her bragging. That in its self though is learning about life. However wisdom comes with age and experience does it not?
There should be no doubt he took full advantage of the opportunity to pick her cherry. (Sorry ladies) The girl was so ripe for picking. You could have told her till the cows came home that she was vulnerable and she would not have believed you, again do they ever at that age?
He took full advantage and some.
She was a child and needed to be protected and treated as such.
If it had been me sentencing he would have got the maximum for each section he was guilty of. Each sentence to be served one after the other!!!!! No one will be able to convince me any different. He deserves all he is going to get in prison, I will be surprised if he doesn't come out from the sentence, singing an octave to two higher as he deserves it!! Nah no sympathy from me..........

I wasn't going to reply to this thread anymore as I felt my reasonable opinion was spoken down to. Although, I don't agree with that comment whatsoever. In that case, under 16s shouldn't be blamed for any of their actions?

Before you get cranky, I feel the girl did nothing wrong, she had a massive crush on a famous person. I think most kids would fall into that trap.

Some people here substituting generalisations for reasoned argument. If you look at this case, the evidence is one-sided pressure, not a slutty girl trying to tempt a celeb. I agree that many 15 year old girls are not innocent, and that this could have gone the other way, but the evidence is that Johnson is a complete knob jockey.

I also agree with Fran. Sex is not really a crime (not in the real world) but the way this girl has been vilified and betrayed - and the way she was coaxed into the act in the first place - are all deserving of his punishment. We live in a society where sex is both forbidden and promoted as the ultimate state of being, where life and pornography are hard to tell apart, and where thousands of years of religion and male fears of cuckolding have emblazoned sex with a big warning flag - even before fears of sexual disease and unwanted pregnancies (genuine female fears, I guess). This kind of stuff is only going to happen more - and people are going to argue about it because we've been doing that since Ugg slept with his 12 year old cousin Errg behind the cave entrance.

Used to work in an office where a team leader was frequently referred to as "The Man Hater", based on her comments about men, in general, and her ex husband, in particular.
 
Well after going to the Mells Daffodil Festival (which was a whole lot more fun than the name suggests, given that those rock gods the Wurzels were headlining), it seems I completely forgot to close the thread. As at least 2 other mods have been happily contributing during the day I'll let it go for now.

I'm just blissfully happy that I'll never have to meet Big Ern in real life, and so are both my daughters.
