Benzema is not even playing for Real Madrid at the moment and he is a bit over-rated. Let's say he is nowhere near as good as Suarez. And I would have Kane over Benzema any day.

Umm sorry to bring the bad news. But Roy mentioned Wilshere the other month. Saying how he is still very much part of the England squad and how he needs to get fit to prove to people how good he is again.

Dies and Alli have surely grabbed starting places, our midfield has a bit more bite. Rose looked more assured defensively than he used to be and had a good game, will be hard for Bertrand to displace.

Yes, but the post was still sarcastic as in a dig at trying to get the old favourites in. That's what I thought anyway.

Interesting England only had 37 % of possession according to the BBC. Will struggle if they only have that in the summer.

Injuries will probably help Roy more than his judgment on that showing, but maybe just maybe he learnt something tonight.......

Hodgson made some brave tactical decisions tonight and in his team selection for the game against France, why is everyone so resentful - I see little to disagree with in his selections tonight, plus he brought on Barkley and Vardy without ringing the changes and the change to 4-4-2 really helped.

Other sources quoting 50:50 possession which seems more reasonable! Amazing how stats differ!

And he may know quite a bit about football...he has been a manager for a very long time. We couldn't have qualified any better than we did and he can only work with what he's got. His only crime may be that he can be too loyal. However, he has also given chances to players...remember he brought in several Saints players. I have enjoyed an exciting friendly and seen the beginning of a good team, so I'm pretty happy.

Most places do not measure possession with the 'stopwatch' method anymore...they estimate possession based on stats instead. It's a little strange; you'd think that possession would be one of the easier things on with to find some measure of consensus.

The possession stat needs to be abolished.

To be fair according to the BBC, Germany only had two shots on target and I know Forster stayed at least one, while other sites have up to six shots, so there is plenty of variation!

I like the stats for shots that hit posts or crossbar. If they hit and bounce out they're off-target. If they hit and bounce in they're on target. Doesn't really tell the story, imo.

Yes sorry - my post earlier was meant to be about the fact that Wiltshire seems to get in whenever he's fit, regrdless of how much playing time he's had for Arsenal and whether or not he's in good form.

Serious point: I'd much prefer England to go with 4-4-2 diamond for the Euros. We don't have natural wing players (Welbeck and Lallana tnoight, doesn't come anturaly to either although Welbeck did a decent job of it).

I'd instruct the full backs to get forward as much as possible, with Dier sitting and dropping into a back 3 when we are countered.

I'd have Milner, Ali and Barkley in central midfield, and Kane and Vardy up front (for now.....Sturridge in for Vardy if he hits form between now and end of season).

Options of Rooney, Sturridge/Vardy, and Welbeck off the bench, along with Lallana and Sterling (maybe).

I just find 4-3-3 England are too slow in the build up, and never have enough men in the box to cause problems.
