Same in the way I've never seen Jemal play and I'd never even heard of him. On that basis I have no ability to judge how good somebody I've never seen play is.
Most people on here haven't heard of either of them, including myself, and this goes to show the stature of our club. QPR were in a higher division last year, won it easily and are now in the premiership. However it is our club who have the better and more heard of players. Speaks volumes really, our club will be back where it belongs soon.
Spoke to a QPR fan who said he got bullied by the more physical strikers in the division like Bothroyd, and King, but otherwise he's class. I'd take Gorkss personally.
Getting on a bit at 29? Ageing? Actually, only two years older than that other OAP Jose Fonte. Show some respect to your elders. Bloody nippers.
I am sorry regarding the ageism quotes but in my eyes I would rather go for the younger player as our defence has enough experience with fonte harding and butterfield. I do apologise for getting you out of your armchair though, are you warm enough?
You mean like Adel Taarabt? Sorry pal, no-ones talking much about any Saints players bar the boy Chamberlain. We won the Championship last season, you guys will be lucky to finish mid table. Good luck for the season, especially if you get Gorkss.
Have to say I too have a mate who is a QPR fan and he rates Gorkss. He has said he voted for him as player of the season before now. He cannot understand the thinking behind the offer as he is surprised that he still won't sign for QPR.
Ok a few things... Why is Jemal 'obviously of top quality' just because he appeared in a Champion's League game against Spurs? He was only playing because Dudar was injured. Aleksandar Lazevski played against Arsenal in the Champion's League last year, but it doesn't make him top quality just for that reason. If you haven't heard of Gorkss then you can't have followed the Championship too closely. He was an integral part of the team that won the division! Jemal hasn't even played in this country so I would opt for Gorkss as a solid, reliable influence on the team who knows the league well and knows what it takes to get out of it. I would be happy with Ammar Jemal though, don't get me wrong. How likely either of these rumours are to materialise I don't know. I wouldn't class 29 as 'getting on a bit' either, not for a centre-back. What age was Cannavaro when he captained Italy to World cup success in 2006 as well as winning the World Player Of The Year and Ballon d'Or?
I find it amazing that so many people seem to have never heard of him. It's not like he's a kid or that he's only been in this country for three months. Not only, as you say, was he an integral part of a Championship winning team last season, but we've also come up against him in the past! Saints 1 Blackpool 0, November 2007. He played 90 mins. Blackpool 2 Saints 2, March 2008. He played 90 mins, and scored one goal. QPR 4 Saints 1, August 2008. He was left on the bench. Saints 0 QPR 0, March 2009. He played 90 mins. One point which I have yet to see posted on here is that he also has experience of getting promoted from League One and subsequently then adjusting to life in the Championship the following season, as he was part of Blackpool's promotion winning team in 2007.
