No need for the sad face, like I say, the disappointment was far greater when you realised it didn't do anything.

Gathering all the straw after the farmers had cut the corn fields, piling it all up in a big pile at the base of a pylon and playing chicken to see who dared climb the highest before jumping off onto the straw below.

Bird nesting. We used to walk for miles looking for nests and usually end up being chased by some irate farmer for being on his land.

Did you used to use them for trick or treating? I swear we used Turnips instead of pumpkins when I was a nipper but nobody else seems to agree with me.

I remember my mum used to take me to the launderette, then whilst we were waiting for clothes to dry, we'd go over the road to the cafe/bakers and I'd get a proper bacon barm for 50p then I'd slide under all the tables on my back trying to look up the women's skirts.

When you'd be stranded in the middle of nowhere and you'd need 20p for the bus home, trying to figure out which relative lived closest to where you were so you could go and scrounge 20p off them.

Imagine the shock on the surgeons face when Monty went in for a brain trànsplant and he realised it was a turnip.
