Would definitely take him back. Still only a year older than JWP.

    I'd pay 25 million.

    I'd take him back but I wouldn't pay £25m. £10-15m tops. Nearer £10m

I just don't think his mind would get fired up enough. Surely he would think himself a failure by coming back? His form has not exactly been inspiring when he has played for Arsenal. When he went he was full of potential he has not reached the expectations to be sure. Whether we could get him back to his best is doubtful. I just think there is better out there for the money. You're forgetting that as soon as he leaves Arsenal his injury curse will be lifted.

IF we are interested, IF the price is right and finally IF he chose to come back here, I would have no fears of him not doing his best for us. He feels a connection with the club...and hardly a failure to return to a club that has also moved on since he left. We aren't lowly Saints any more. And I don't think his dad will think the move to Arsenal was a complete bust....several years at a top club on decent wages. IF we are interested, I will assume the due diligence has been done and we think he will suit us, so why not. But an awful lot of IFs in there....likely to be a paper putting 2 and 2 together and making 5.

Sentimentally I quite like the idea of one of our runaways returning, but you don't pay millions for a bit of sentiment.

Don't we have a massive sell on clause with him something like 25% so buy hime for 20 mill and we'd get 5 mill back :1980_boogie_down:

I can see Beddys failure argument, but do we think Saint Mick felt that? From interviews I've seen Alex would enjoy a return to a club he clearly thinks of with affection.

    Love to see him back.

I'm a bit baffled by the view that we can get better players elsewhere, or that he's not much of an improvement on what we have. Really? Did you not watch him play? Had a conversation with an Arsenal fan recently who said he's restricted by the role Wenger imposes on him when he gets the chance to play, but that he's still shown flashes of brilliance.

Imo one of the most gifted youngsters our academy has ever produced. Having said all that, I would have some reservations; in life, you should always look forward instead of back. Might make an exception in his case though. And Theo's for that matter.

No. Not in the same class, for a start.

Yes in truth though Mick was older when he left and even older on his return!
Not forgetting he didn't cost a lot on his return either..

It might be seen as a step up :) you know leaving a team on the decline for one on the up :)

Potential and expectations are two un-measurable units.

Doesn't play in the same position as Mane. He was our most exciting player during League 1 I think. I'd definitely have him back if his injury troubles went away.

Also Arsenal wouldn't take a loss on him, 22 year old England International with undeniable ability/potential - didn't we get £15million! I would question his temperament though.

Something Arsenal have almost entirely wasted so far. He has barely improved over the precocious 17 year old. He's been coached in the Arsenal/Wenger method and from what I can see that doesn't bring a player on in any great way.

Not at all. Mane appears to want to play for Saints in Europe next term, and he has two+ plus seasons left anyway. The ball is in our court.

If I were Alex, I'd want to get a summer move to the Saints.

I would certainly take him back, providing:

    - The finances (wage/fee) are right for us.
    - There doesn't seem to be ongoing injury issues
    - His Dad will learn to shut his mouth

He's really struggled over the past year or so there, you don't lost talent overnight I just think at his age you need to be playing more consistently. Maybe something we could offer.

So you flat out refuse to take back anybody that leaves? What about Bale?
