Reports of two explosions at Brussels airport and one at a underground station. Thoughts go out to those caught up in it all
The explosion at the airport looks huge. I fly in and out of there at least once a month. Horrible. We really need to help the Belgian security services and police to sort themselves out.
13 dead at the airport apparently and something like 35 seriously injured. Dreadful. I know a lad who is over there at the moment. Hope he is ok.
I used to go through Maalbeek on an almost weekly basis. It's like Bank or Westminster in the rush hour. Having worked in EU based jobs for twenty years I know loads of people over there so hope they're all ok.
Thoughts ,firstly, go out to those murdered and injured....is it me or do skynews really try to over do these incidents and out pops skelator Kay burley....belgian plod bowling around smoking look totally unprofessional!
My thoughts go out to the victims and their relatives. With atrocities in Paris, Istanbul, Ankara and now Brussels, it seems the unspeakable violence of Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria is creeping northwards. The Utopian ideal of free movement of people on the Continent, while commendable in principle, is clearly foundering. Guns and bombs move across borders with ease. It won't get better.
From someone who has clearly never read anything to do with Islam other than red-top headlines. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing - it exposes ignorance everywhere. Carry on, Jimbo. You're doing a fine job. Back on topic, though, condolences to anyone caught up in this atrocity. I hope that the police catch the perpetrators and their paymasters quickly.
Keep banging that drum Goldie. It makes no difference if your borders are national or Schengen ones, as long as they are properly controlled. This is an intelligence failure, sadly. Wow, imagine the gene pool in a few years. We'll all be at NFN (normal for Norfolk) levels.
The likelihood of intelligence failures is magnified many times by Schengen, Stan. Terrorists can move around freely, as we saw before and after the Paris attack
I was wondering when the Brexit people would arrive on this thread. Please tell me which part of Europe the 7/7 terrorists came from. Oh wait a minute.....they were from Yorkshire.
This is a terrible atrocity, but I am finding myself being distracted from its enormity by commentators and newsreaders continually using Belgium as an adjective rather than Belgian. Looks like a security services failure, sadly.
I wouldn't go down that route finglas. Where did the 21/7 London bombers come from? Or for that matter the two doctors involved in the London and Glasgow airport bombings in 2007.
