Either that or SB thinks the forwards we have on the bench are worse. Just hope the Lambert rumours are true
The thing with Hayden is what is the point of picking him for one game in weeks then benching him, he needs games to get his sharpness, when he's been settled and confident he's looked excellent. A wasted loan signing of what will turn out to be a great player in years to come.
I think the words used by Bruce were something along the lines of… we'd sign him today if he was available….
Wasn't able to go last night which reading the reports might have been a blessing. Big up' to all that did, it's becoming increasingly numbing.
Sorry Walter, I was just being a little flippant about the number of people on these boards who criticize Steve Bruce and his team on their tactics when we lose and come up with THEIR solution which is always AFTER the game. Surely everyone must understand that Steve and his Team will have an in-depth discussion as to what tactics and players to use against our next opponents whilst opposition Managers come up with a counter-tactic - someone has stated that the opposition tactic 3-5-1 appears to nullify our style of play. This appears to be working as there wasn't a gram of criticism in January when we won all 6 of our games and scored 15 goals but since then we have played 10 and scored 5 goals and so Bruce comes in for much criticism. Like Clough said, players win games not tactics so where has our 10 million quid man been for the last 10 games? What the hell has happened to Elmo, The Hudd, Livermore, Clucas, Meyler bearing in mind there has been injuries to Snoddy and a couple of others whilst Akpom and Diomande appear to be firing blanks.
You could say the same for Akpom! However a lot of people think 1 game should be enough to get back to their best, if not its drop them!
There's no certainty he will be great, but there are double standards for those who are Bruce's first choice and the rest, and it's always been the case. For all the talk of using the full squad we know the real deal.
Just a thought, but if teams are going to come to us and play 5 in midfield, could we not just match them so we also have an extra man in there?
The last time we scored 6 goals in a game (Fulham 2013) we went onto score 3 goals in the next 7 league games After we put 6 past Charlton we scored 4 goals in the next 7 league games. Bruce's comment after the Charlton game has come back to haunt him...
This is just my opinion Brian but wouldn't that be a bit like someone in a lifeboat jumping back on to the Titanic. I know there is huge difference in the Clubs but I don't think Bruce would be considered. Now, if the Newcastle Job had been on offer . . .
It certainly would Walter - I've been on the slops tonight and can't count. 4-5-1 is of course what they are playing.
That may well be the case Brian… but they're not that daft or are they? The statement that has been applied when he's been linked to other clubs before is "Bruce knows how to get a club out of this division'… if you ask me, if it happens it will be more luck than design.
First Bruce is paid to get it right, nobody here is. Second, even on better runs this season the team has played ok in small patches, normally a part of the second half, very rarely for most of the game. The division is bad enough to get away with that at times, but not all the time. He can't change his tactics very successfully, either during a game when it doesn't work or to accommodate injuries. Who bought Hernandez and others? He also loves buying injured players.
Well, nobody on here would be anywhere near qualified to get paid to do Bruce's job. Again you are closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. On paper Hernandez looked to be a great prospect if a little costly but like Altidore before him he found the Premier League a step too far. No Manager would specifically go after and sign injured players. The Club has a Medical Staff who determine if a prospective signing is fit to play. Didn't the staff knock back Charlie Adams or somebody because he didn't pass their medical yet was quickly snapped up by another Premier League team?
Disappointed as **** last night. However, not being an emotionally incontinent ****, I managed to resist booing the team. However, I saw the BHA result when I got in and booed the tv set as I had to vent my frustration. I pay my licence fee and have a right to express my opinion. I demand favourable scores involving our rivals.
