If Roy decides to take 4 strikers, these are the 4 to take. Welbeck's scoring ratio is much higher for England than it is at Arsenal. As for Walcott and Wilshere (if fit) I would not even choose them.
Are you suggesting you don't think Roy sees Kane as a starter for England now? N not sure Welbeck deserves any stick? He's seemed to recover well from his injury and has been one of Englands best players in past few years. he's one of the first names in the squad imo and I would most likely start him too (though probably wide admittedly).
Slight shame as I would have liked them both in the Final. But at least one will definitely get there. Bet both fancy their chances like mad. I'd be happier with either winning the FA Cup over Everton or ManU/West Ham
Normally I would agree with you, but our chances of getting in the Europa League are increased if someone already in the qualifying positions wins the FA Cup.
So, two talking points from the weekend. Gabriels two footed lunge against the Watford player, they were both going in hard, the Watford player did not roll around on the ground & the ref was 5 yrds away. No card. Cough Mane. Payets penalty claim v Utd. Into the box, defender pulling out, Payets leaves leg for contact & goes down. For me, never a pen, but for the people saying Beneteke's was a pen against Palace, then surely they have to stand by this one as well? We knew this weekend was going to throw up some discussions didn't we! (Yes you TSS!)
Here's a question for you. If a player tackles late, i.e. definite foul BUT the player with the ball manages to jump over the tackle and is not brought down....is that a foul?
Ref would probably signal an advantage...if indeed there was one. Unless it is Saints when he will signal an advantage for the fouling team.
I remember awarding a free kick once for just this situation. The tackler was really upset claiming that he'd not touched him (which, of course, he hadn't). Slightly against refereeing ethics I told that that was because he wasn't good enough even to kick the guy. I think that actually was the last game I ref'd
It is, but not only would the ref have to be competent, but also brave. We do not have many of those on these shores.
I think for it to be a foul it has to have a negative effect on an opposing player. If the player jumps the tackle and carries on then I don't see it as a foul. If the player jumps the tackle and stumbles or loss of momentum results in another player winning the ball back then it should be called back as a foul. Only reckless/dangerous play should be punished without contact. So if a player dives in two footed with the intention to take another player out and misses then that should still be a card
Could easily have been two sending's off there imo. Straight red for the 2 footed lunge, 2nd yellow for the blatant dive.
A snippet from The Antiques Roadshow on the day they assessed the FA Cup. Interesting history, and the expert even valued it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03nykf3 See if you can arrive at a similar figure before he reveals his thoughts.
Saw it yesterday. It's one of those things hard to price because what you would have to pay is far higher than its value and all depends who else wants it. Lot of rich footie fans out there.
Yes, I put it up for those who were watching The Queen on ITV, or doing something less boring instead. Personally, I thought he undervalued it. Then again, he did say, well over... which could have meant anything above his stock valuation.
