What a load of rollocks!! If he wanted to play that badly he could agree to cancel his contract mutually
. Then he is a free agent to join whatever team would take him. He also says he could have gone in the summer (even had a medical at West Ham), we got him from them because they wouldn't pay him 50K per week so no way we're they going to pay him the same wages as us. So his statement of not going into football for money is dispelled straight away., he has lots of options with his contract, so he can stop whinging and robbing QPR of 50K a week

I doubt his agent, with whom he presumably also has a contract, would allow him to delete the clauae.

I do.feel.some.sympathy in that he foresaw this potential problem but was kept on and now he's in this limbo.

I'm sure could have been handled better but only with hindsight.

As far as i'm concerned we could have treated him better. He's been a pretty loyal servant and he's done his best for us. And his best, to be fair, hasn't been too bad. All the mud slinging is a wee bit unfair in my eyes. The money is not the point I don't think.

I would agree with this, Green's form has been poor this season but he isn't alone in that respect. Remember he got an England call up again playing for us so he hasn't been all that bad. Situation shouldn't have been allowed to get to this stage.

Agree with all of that, but if he was so desperate to play, as others have said, cancel contract, and play for all those clubs desperate for such an experienced GK.

Don't pounce about feeling sorry for yourself, while pocketing vast sums of money - hypocrite !!!!
 
One of the funniest articles I've read this year so far

Zero sympathy for him

I'll never forgive him for that 'clearance' against Chelsea when our players had run themselves in to the ground

He's been absolutely atrocious this season and cost us valuable points

Smithies, and I suspect Ingram are far better options

None of this explains why he was picked week after week during 2015 despite some atrocious performances. Why did successive managers (including Warnock who I admire greatly) let his game tally get anywhere near 30 when he was regularly costing the team points? There's something more to this story.

I don't think there is. It's the same reason Fer, Sandro and Konchesky got picked so regularly. They're 'names' so should be safe bets for a new manager.

I think the idea was, allow them to perform, so as to showcase they are fit to play, for potential loan moves in January

ENGLAND star Rob Green passed a medical at West Ham last summer.

RUB OF THE GREEN: West Ham were interested in Rob Green

The keeper, 36, even went as far as agreeing personal terms to sign on at Upton Park.
But the move broke down because QPR owners didn't want to sell to the Hammers.

Green also gave the green light for a move to Crystal Palace but that broke down because of their squad size.
Green, capped 12 times by England, told the Mail: "The newspaper reports weren't far off the mark. I was pretty close to leaving."

He has played 25 times and has now been told he won't play again for the club.
Green explained: "When I sat down with them in the summer I said this is the one position I didn't want to find myself in and here we are.

"Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink spoke to me soon after he arrived. He said, 'Look, it's nothing personal but because of budgets and things you're not going to make the 30 games'.

"I played one more game on New Year's Day then missed a couple through illness, and by then Alex Smithies was fit and available. I guess they figured they might as well make the change then."

The stopper spent six years at West Ham between 2006 and 2012 before moving to QPR.
But now he is stuck in a rut at Loftus Road.

He remains a paid employee but is being left out of the squad on the grounds of cost, report the Mail.
If Green reaches 30 appearances this season, the R's would have to extend his contract beyond June.

Try this thought...

If I was no longer the number one goalkeeping choice at my club, and could move as a free agent once the transfer window reopened, I wouldn't be happy to have people question why I wasn't getting picked (thus reducing my price when I moved). I'd probably use that 30-day clause as the reason (and therefore, not my fault or lack of my own ability or form). I'd gloss over the fact that I could waive that clause today and take my selection chances against the other goalkeeper for the rest of the season, because if I still wasn't picked then I'd have nowhere to hide.

He's had his time at QPR now it's time for the next man. Smithies is arguably player of the season.
If he needs cheering up he just needs to look at his bank account. "But it's not about the money" my rse
